Looking for a source for Lowes (Task Force) parts

Have you tried asking Lowes for a parts source?

I buy a fair amount of knobs to restore old tools. Once you know the size of whatever the knob attaches to and whether or not it has threads, it is pretty straightforward.

I probably should have called it a wheel instead of a knob. It has teeth on the bottom for adjusting tilt and grooves in the top for adjusting height. I'm pretty sure it's specific to this saw and I didn't see if at McMaster Carr or ebay. If it doesn't turn up on ebay and Lowes can't help. I think I can make something like the hand crank on an old AC tractor as a workaround.

Yes, that does sound pretty specific, and critical, to your saw. Model #? Photo? I am having trouble visualizing it.

LG sourcing made them for Lowes, but to be honest I am not seeing machine specific parts, and they seem to have moved on from the brand in power tools.

The first photo shows the blade height adjustment. To raise the blade a spring pushes the wheeI' back so that the roll pin catches between the little bumps around the shaft and spins a threaded rod that raises the blade. The bumps have worn down or broken off and now I can just pull the wheel back enough to make it work. I might rebuild the bumps with some liquid steel type product but think building a crank to fit over the roll pin would be more of a sure thing.

The additional photos are only because you seemed interested in the mechanism. The model number could be hidden under the homemade legs. The wooden "knob" on the wheel works fine, the center hole is probably too big because I was in a hurry and used whatever bit was handy.

When my portable Craftsman table saw bit the dust, I bought a Dewalt with the rack and pinon fence. At the time, I thought it was too much $, but the ease of fence adjustment and accuracy make up for it. I'd rate it as the easiest fence adjustment I've ever used.

Thanks! That really helped. I was having trouble visualizing the dual functions of your knob, but I understand it now.

I can't find a parts source for it, sorry. Your idea of liquid steel seems like a good interim fix. If you are really attached to that saw, our could consider finding a knob that you can cut a slot in for the pin, and source a gear that you can weld/pin to your knob. Alternatively, you could drill out the existing pin engaging lobes and press in a new steel part with lobes or slots to match the pin. (Like half a Lovejoy coupling)
