Lowe's closing 50 stores !

Yep... it's been 2 years since my little community based Hospital was acquired by by a Health Care giant... each week brings new surprises often from corp with titles I have never heard of...

Operations cost have increased quite a bit... Docs alienated... etc.

Going from Salary to Hourly has been quite dramatic... actually take home more but still feel bad having to say if I stay or come back I will be on Overtime... 95% I am told to never mind...

They have also removed and decommissioned the price scanners.

You can scan barcodes with the WalMart app. (upper right hand corner)

I go to Lowes quite a bit as I am retired and like to putter. But I do go there less and less because I buy from Amazon. Criticize if you like but the truth is, the retail sector shows a lot of signs that the demise is near. Not only that, but its convenient.

I shop Lowes over HD. HD shorted me with a substitute carpet of lower quality and denied it till I showed the the back label from the carpet they installed. Then wanted to just give me a few dollars to compensate. HD is just across the street from Lowes. Just turn left or right to get to either.

Buy most of my tools from Amazon. Lower cost and with a distribution center here in my county I get same day(if ordered early in the day) or next day delivery.

Needed to pick up a Moen faucet at 6 tonight and went to Hayward Home Depot...

Big store with a single cashier for the entire store...

I asked and was told all the cashiers were gone and she was it until closing and working self check-out only... people trying to bring lumber and drywall through self check-out was a disaster.

How can a huge store pay the light bill with only a single cashier?

When the store opened it had 20 registers plus special and return desk... last year it was reduced to 10 with 4 in the self check out cluster...

I'd love to see Amazon get into the building supplies business. Their customer service and shipping are the best.

I was listening to some truckers talking the other day. They were talking about delivering gravel to a New Home Depot On-Line Distribution facility with 118 Bays in the Toronto area! For the US that's not a big deal but for this "becoming" a third world nation, it's quite something. I'm curious if they fall flat on their face? Like Target here.

Well, all I can say is apparently all Lowes stores are not the same. I have no complaints about our local Lowes stores. I shop at Lowes and Home Depot just about equally depending on what brand merchandise or specific lumber I am looking for.

I'd love to see Amazon get into the building supplies business.

I wouldn't complain if they ceased operations.
