LS Tractor Oil, Gas, & Air Filter Information

I think mine is a plug. My tractor is am MT3 52 tho... looks about the same in your pic. Where did you get your service manual??

I only have a digital version, I think my Dealer sent it to me or someone on here has them and I downloaded it

might be a dumb comment, but how does the plug come out of the replacement filter? Maybe fiddle with that one, not the live one, if you haven't though of that. And I'm interested as mine is coming due and might replace it anyway to see if it helps the regen issue.
Dealer want's "The price is $77.48. PN# 40271228" and a WIX WF8395 is $19.42 on Amazon and $13.99 at the local O'Reilly auto parts store, so I'm interested if it fits lol

The LS Fuel Filter 40271228 water-in-fuel-sensor at the bottom of the fuel filter is threaded in.

The WIX version comes with a black screw in plug/drainer as seen below. It did screw right into the LS filter perfectly. The top side of the WIX looks to be a thread match as well.

The LS filter does feel heavier.

It is a photo illusion or is the wix filter diameter a good bit smaller? The main body seems the same, but the mating surface looks a lot smaller in the picture, might be because the stock is closer to the lens.

Defiantly shorter which could account for the weight difference.

Mostly optical illusion, but it is slightly smaller diameter.

Here is the filter list for my MT3 52HC. Note that these are specific to my chassis SN. There are some differences in the hydro and HST filters based on SN

Yes, good post. I have an XR4140, so apparently has the LS engine and not the Shibauru engine. Some numbers are definitely different for me...depending on which site I look at (NAPA, Donaldson, CNH, LS, Messick's, etc.) Very confusing.

508 hours and still pretty decent. I blow out the outer one regularly from inside out.
Replaced with same Donaldson P822768 & P822769 Air Filter Set as stock.

The WIX WL7426 oil filter does NOT fit my MT240HE, it's too tall and interferes with the loader support. Just FYI.

I thought I had a LS filter but don't so now I have to scramble to see what I can find that will work. no LS dealer within an hour.
Edit: Well, we have a new dealer 40 minutes away come to find out and they have them in stock! Road trip!

I tried a Wix 51085 and it seems to work on my MT240HE. I threaded it on and off a few times and compared it to the LS one and it feels exactly the same as far as threads go. The Seal is the same diameter. It looks like it may have a little more filter media as it's larger in diameter. I did run the engine a few minutes after replacement and filling with oil and no leaks but that was only at idle.

Why did you try swapping from the 51085 that fit to the 7426 that didn't? Wanted a larger filter?

Cross reference filter solutions for XU6168 / MT 573 and similar are
rare. Has anyone bought or used oil filter from Friday Parts?
Specifically sku#FPLJ2503275 ? It would sub for LS part #40409065 /
LS part# 40318591.

I'm stuck buying LS brand. Anyway, for those you who don't
have a CUT but do have a Utility Tractor, XU6168/MT 573 or similar;
the LS part #'s have changed and so have the filter sizes.

I had bought a filter pack and multiple oil filters a few years back. It's what
the dealer sold me (old numbers). The filter pack had a filter or 2 that were
the wrong size for my machine. The oil filters were fine, but I've now used them
up and had to order some more. In the meantime the original dealer went
belly up. Just posting to let others (less aware of newer numbers) like me.
Definitely shorter and fatter.
