Well done. Good feeling to have an idea and then see it come full turn to actually working. :cool2:

Now, on to the next idea or premonition. Sounds like you are well on the way too. :)

I had a friend build the same thing out of 3/4" plywood. He cut a full sheet in 2 2'x8' strips. He then placed each piece on cinder blocks and wet it repeatedly while adding weight to the center till it had the shape of a snow plow. He then Gorilla Glued and Pneumatic Stapled the two pieces together making a 2' tall by 8' wide by 1.5" thick plow blade. He did as you did and used heavy angle iron on both the top and bottom though bolted with 5/16" bolts every 8" or so. He used 2 2" wide ratchet straps to secure it to the bucket similar to yours. He had less than $50 in it since the plywood he got damaged at the lumber yard cheap.

I think it looks great! Gives me ideas to build my own. I'd slap on a good coat of poly to seal the wood from moisture and it should last a good long time.

The lvls come with a wax coating, so I'm thinking paint is a no-go. Not painting the steel is just my inherent laziness. Today I'm gonna figure out a good place to drop it, maybe make a stand with wheels, or set it on some horses, I'm out of floor space..
Thanks for the comments!

I'll put a band of plywood with a shelf on it to sturdy this up, now that I marked how high it can be. Would be better welded up, but when you only have a hammer...

My first plow was a piece of 16" X 48" 3/4 plywood, bedspring angle bolted to bottom for cutting edge and couple short 2 x 4" vertically that had pusher arms attached mid way as well as more 3/4" ply scraps to brace the pusher arms.
The pusher arms were designed to mate with the front bumper of my old VW beetle just inside of the over riders. Strap hooks kept the arms hanging on the bumper.
For my 'lift mechanism' I had an old 2 ft piece of hockey stick bolted vertically.
A rope was attached to the hockey stick and lift was accomplished with my left arm out the open drivers window by simply pulling on the rope.

That 'KISS' plow actually worked quite well, shure beat shoveling!

But then those VW beetles with engine over the drive wheels shure had traction.(and got 36mpg)!

Those old "slugbugs" or "pregnant rollerskates" seemed to go most everywhere. Years ago, my dad said they were like our old John-deere B. They didn't have enough power to spin the wheels, so you either kept moving or you killed the engine.. I have used a 12 foot chunk of LSL (strand board) bolted to my rear blade for leveling out mole hills in the fields for several years now. It doesn't dig up the ground like a steel blade would and seems to be holding up pretty well. Best part...It was free....Dan.

A buddy of mine had an old bug with the front of the rear floor pan rusted loose that would hang down. The more snow, the more it would scoop up and give him more traction.. He said when he got home, 'up the mountain', his back seat would be full..
