Bandit got all the snow and we got all the heavy rain. The weather guessers were predicting 10" - 20" for the Denver metro area, and at 5,100 feet I'm low enough that the snow didn't happen until tonight.

I set the tractor up for possible snow removal duty by moving the car outside and all for naught. No matter as I really didn't feel like doing snow removal duty.

I'm exhausted.

Been plowing snow all day, and still not done yet, but I'm done for the night. Man did we get dumped on in a short time. Must have gotten at least 2 feet so far.

On the way home, I looked up and saw the stars, so I don't know what's going on. All the online forecasts are calling for more snow through tomorrow, but my wife caught the tail end of one of the 10 o'clock news and they said the storm's winding down.

I kind of hope we don't get another foot overnight, or I've got to get up at 4am to plow out a fireman who has to get in to work first thing.

I'm going to bed.

If I remember right, there is no predicting the weather out there. I would bring every warm thing I had to work, because the the temp cold change quickly.
Especially working on an open high rise. I worked for Simmons Electric back then. Storage Tech, way back.

Well, I'm back. Electricity was out for 35 hours. Have a big enough generator, but haven't yet gotten it wired up to run the house, so had to run some extension cords for the fridges. Too bad we didn't have running water. Had water for drinking and other essentials, then had to boil snow for the toilets so we didn't use our stash of good water.

All told, we had 40" of heavy, wet snow from Thursday evening to Saturday evening.

Man, am I tired of plowing. 2 days of getting soaked through plowing while it was snowing, and then this morning, plowing in the nice sunshine, but I had to wear my waterproof gear as the snow was dropping from the trees, so I roasted.

If I keep all these plowing jobs for next year, I'm going to have to go with a cab, because I have to get out and stay on top of these big storms, and in a normal winter, there are plenty of those. It takes a lot out of you battling the cold, driving snow, soaked clothes (even the Gortex), and everything else for 3-4 hours each time you go out. It's one thing when you're just plowing your own drive, but when you've got a half dozen other drives and 3/4 of a mile of road, all the right gear is nice. Good excuse for a cab - gonna go with one for just the winter, because summer and fall is too nice up here to be all closed in.

Anyway, the big meltdown is happening now, and I think I may just stay off the tractor for at least a day. :D

Gotta go shower - been 4 days since my last one. Just like camping. :D

Welcome back- now you have a stronger incentive to get the cab going and done ;) .

I would say get the cab just for no reason at all.
Your preaching to the choir here;
It's your wife you have to convince!

First get the generator hooked up to a transfer switch, then work on the cab.
Let me know if you would like to discuss generator connections.

Nice job on your cab Knight, I had not seen your post before on it.
