Marijuana on the job

Only a matter of time from when something starts in California... Same Sex Marriage, Marijuana, Unleaded Gas, Emission Controls, Green Tax Credits, etc...

And earthquakes. Don't forget those. We don't want them here.

You went to work impaired? .....and because of that Big Government should control what all of us do on our own time?

I don't follow this logic.

"...who needs people in a position of responsibility such as a surgeon, pilot, car mechanic, drivers etc. to be able to harm others because of poor judgement...."

The poor judgment would be from them deciding to use it on the job, just like alcohol or prescriptions. I don't see a difference.

Sure. Dopers have great judgment. Just like booze hounds.

My dearly departed father used to tell me, 'YOU are your own liquor control board'. I have always stuck to that saying. I do not drink and drive anymore. (I used to do it when I was a young pup). I do not smoke dope and drive either. I've got way too much to lose now. One impaired charge and there goes my job and all the perks that go with it. That in itself is enough to keep me drug and alcohol free behind the wheel.

As far as on the job:
I don’t blame someone for having poor judgement when they’re inebriated.
It’s the poor judgement they had when SOBER to become inebriated that is the real concern.

It’s not the substance. Banning this one or that one doesn’t correct the poor judgement.

Good news from FDA, someone is waking up finally.
When both genuine medicine and a potentially harmful recreational drug come from the same plant,
not sure how complicated this is going to become. It bothers me they don't say anything about safety here.

Some pot products may soon be getting regulated under the Food and Drug Adminstration. The FDA announced yesterday that it will start discussing regulatory framework for the use of CBD in consumer products, including foods and beverages, next month. CBD is the the abbreviation for cannabidiol, one of the non-psychoactive ingredients in cannabis that is believed to offer wide-ranging health benefits (the nastier, psychoactive ingredient is THC). FDA Commissioner Dr. Scott Gottlieb said the move was part of an effort to build "lawful pathways by which appropriate products containing cannabis or cannabis-derived compounds can be marketed" and made "more predictable and efficient." As it stands now under FDA guidelines, it's illegal to put CBD in a food product or market it as a diet supplement.
