Might be picking up a mf40 this weekend for 950..... Needs a lot of work but thinking I can use it for parts if I can't get it going.

Passed on that mf 40, was to beat up and he didn't want to budge on the price.

Took the 35 from my property to my house to change out the valve gasket cause to was spilling out at least a quart every time I used it.
It was going good til after I removed the valve cover and noticed that there was something wrong with the air intake system......

Closer look....

And

No idea where the missing piece went........

Cleaned up the intake surface

Made a new piece for that cover..... Or what ever is missing from there..... Out of 1/4 plate

Stil not done with it. I'll be finishing it up tomorrow....... That supride really ticked me off.....

Well from what I can see & figure out the intake for that head should of been similar to the massey 135. Not sure why they didn't use it.
I found one on eBay with a bunch of other misc parts for dirt cheap I'm gonna pick up and make work.

Nice pics. Was the intake changed?

Thanks!
I believe the intake is original to this tractor, but not to the perkins motor that's in it.
When I purchased the tractor the PO said that the motor in it was from a massey ferguson generator but is the same make and size as the original was. I believe the intake that was on the generator was the same as the one that's been put on the mf135 tractors.

Forget to post a pick of how it ended up last week.

Last week I picked up a used intake from a 135 on eBay. Got it a few days ago. Cleaned it up and bolted it up. I also had gotten a new fuel pump a few weeks ago, but it's pump arm was different from the one I had originaly. So I swaped the bottoms and was good to go.

You're doing a bang up job on that old tractor. Nice to see them being resurrected still. The pictures
are tremendous in this thread. Couple of things I saw during this rebuild are one, make sure that
street elbow feeding the valve body is steel. It sure looks alot like galvenized pipe. Second, on a
slow day take those shifter boots off and clean the bottom of the sticks with some sandpaper until
smooth. Clean up the area and pack the boots inside with chassis grease before you slide them down.
they should then be okay for a long time in your humid climate. Keep the updates coming !!

I'm not sure on what type that street elbow is, it came on the tractor when I got it.

Thanks for the tip about the shifter stuff, I'll probably try doing that stuff on wed or Thursday. Those are the days I use to work on it. The other days I put the tractor to work clearing out palmettos from my property.
