Maxmax12, Yes I did get your PM on the forks. Thanks for all of your help. Still haven't picked any up mainly because I can't find anyone out here who has them. Any chance you could post some pictures of yours? Maybe we should start a new thread for forks. Not a whole lot of info about them online.
The 54" bucket makes a bigger difference than I expected for 6”. Since I will be moving a lot of dirt to put in my new yard I think it will help. I never measured the height of the old one but I think this one is taller too and overall has a lot more capacity. I am guessing the bucket I had was the same as the 48” on the 1816 which is rated at a capacity of 5.3 cu. ft. The Max28 bucket is rated at a capacity of 7 cu. ft. So I guess it is about a 32% increase in bucket capacity which is a pretty big improvement.
These forks r great, just wish they were lighter. They expand out to 5 feet wide... They r really incredible, front or back. They would be perfect on a 40 HP tractor... The max 28 throws them around fine, but lighter would be better for me and u, IMO.
Because that was the standard size for the first few hundred ML205 loaders. They then changed to 54", but there are still quite a few of the 48" buckets in the system.
So during this time when both bucket sizes are available, dealers sell the 48" buckets until they are gone, and generally swap to a 54" (at the dealers expense by the way) for customers that want the wider bucket. And most want the wider bucket. The Max28 with ag tires is under 48" wide, and so there may be some applications where a 48" bucket makes sense on an ag tire unit.
