Got a new Max28 a week ago and was curiouse to how big the FEL bucket is of other owners. The spec sheet on Mahindra's website says 54" but mine is only 47" wide. Seems like a small bucket for something with so much lift capacity. Guess I should have paid more attention before I bought it.

Ya it's hard to think a a tractor that weighs only 1850 lbs. can lift 1400. The bucket on my tractor is 54", an will lift what ever is in it. dirt, stone snow etc.

Mine is also 54". Did they give you a bucket for the Max 22/25?

Max 22 is also 50" bucket with loader 202, the factory loader sold with the MAX 22 & 25. The 28 comes with loader 205 and a 54" bucket.

How can I tell if I have the 205 loader or if they put a different loader on my Max28?

Mine has it written right on the side of the loader arm on the outside edge.

Good news. Just got an email back from my dealer and they are bringing me a 54" bucket.

Did they say why you got the smaller bucket in the first place.

Not exactly sure. They said they must have received the wrong one from Mahindra and not noticed the difference.

Scruz, did u ever get my responses to your pm about the forks? I never heard back from u.

Cool move on the bucket. Do u think it will make a big difference, having a larger size?

Maxmax12, Yes I did get your PM on the forks. Thanks for all of your help. Still haven't picked any up mainly because I can't find anyone out here who has them. Any chance you could post some pictures of yours? Maybe we should start a new thread for forks. Not a whole lot of info about them online.

The 54" bucket makes a bigger difference than I expected for 6”. Since I will be moving a lot of dirt to put in my new yard I think it will help. I never measured the height of the old one but I think this one is taller too and overall has a lot more capacity. I am guessing the bucket I had was the same as the 48” on the 1816 which is rated at a capacity of 5.3 cu. ft. The Max28 bucket is rated at a capacity of 7 cu. ft. So I guess it is about a 32% increase in bucket capacity which is a pretty big improvement.

Good to know, thanks.

These forks r great, just wish they were lighter. They expand out to 5 feet wide... They r really incredible, front or back. They would be perfect on a 40 HP tractor... The max 28 throws them around fine, but lighter would be better for me and u, IMO.

Did they say why you got the smaller bucket in the first place.

Because that was the standard size for the first few hundred ML205 loaders. They then changed to 54", but there are still quite a few of the 48" buckets in the system.

So during this time when both bucket sizes are available, dealers sell the 48" buckets until they are gone, and generally swap to a 54" (at the dealers expense by the way) for customers that want the wider bucket. And most want the wider bucket. The Max28 with ag tires is under 48" wide, and so there may be some applications where a 48" bucket makes sense on an ag tire unit.
