Need help on mf65 trans oil. I have a 1962 mf65 with multi power transmission. I see the manual calls for 80-90 wt mineral oil. Is the miles gear oil ok or is it not gl1? If that’s even important. The local MF dealer wants $110 for 2.5 gallons vs granger at a bit more than half price. If I’m on the wrong track please pount me to the right one at a decent cost???

I am not absolutely sure but used to be that GL4 and lower were typically used in transmissions with synchromesh. GL5 contains high levels of sulfur-phosphorus which are not good for softer metals. Or perhaps if you could find manual transmission oil, it would likely be ok. Personally I would go with what the dealer recommends and be safe in knowing it has the correct fluid.

Perhaps someone else can chime in here that knows your machine better..

Hi,
I noted the Multipower, but what are the other specs on the gearbox? Is it the 6 speed?

It’s a 4 speed. I see tractor supply has ford trans oil that is mineral sae 90 and gl1. I’m really hoping this will work. It’s fairly reasonable pricing
