motorhome convert to pickup

I will not be able to get anything more than scrap price for the motorhome.
and this project is too easy not to do... 80% labor.

The parts wont cost that much.
have you priced a 1990 chevy 3500hd pickup with less than 30 thousand miles?
I cant afford to buy one. and I dont need to buy one... I have one.. just a couple days of work when it stops friggin raining here in florida!!!

What i cant understand is, if your getting a 90's model truck from your buddy, why take a perfectly good truck apart as a parts truck to build a motor home into a truck. It would be much simpler to just put your motorhome engine and tranny into the other truck and then you would have a 90's model truck with 30,000 mile parts.

Go for it but my bet is that when it comes to putting the PU body on so that you can make it street legal you will end up selling it all as scrap. I think it is going to be more to it than you think. :2cents: Ed
that is all I was trying to say.

have fun, and good luck

most likely if you have the 3/4 ton pickup the easy est way would be to cut the back off the pick up and the motor home and weld it back together,

I am not taking THAT truck apart. I am getting parts from junkyard. that is a completely separate deal.

I got my bases covered there. As long as I stick to using options 4 winds used for that year, there was 2 van and pickup
I am ok (like the pickup WAS a option.)
on the title itself, no where does it say or refrence a van body. The title was reprinted by the four winds company.

And we DO NOT have inspections here in florida anymore unless you bring in a vehilce from out of state

It is really starting to get nasty parts breaking out the walls. lots of mold wet wood and ants...
why am I doing this again??

oh yeah!!! I am getting a 3500!!!! yay.. go me! go me! go me!...

I got all the windows out and the door off and I found the body is made by welded aluminum frames. there is 1 framework for the roof, and 1 for each of the 3 walls. and each panel framework is welded together but the 4 panels are not welded together. just glued like everything else. I started pulling and I had 1 whole side of in less than a minute because when the material gets wet, the sprayed on glue FAILS.

I should have taken the roof off first because now the walls a wobbly and the ac is still up there.
I will put up some more pics if it stops raining so I can take the camera out.

day 1 of demo was sledge and 3' prybar for inside
day 2 was axe and 2 foot prybar for outside walls.
today will be sawzaw for the roof and above the cab.
my brother said I should use the metal frame work to build the bed. he does not understand how thin that stuff is an I want to haul more than light weight tree limbs.
I need pickup bed or hauler bed.
