Mounting a PTO hydraulic pump

Hi,

I need to mount a cast iron Prince PTO pump on to my PTO shaft. Should I let it hang off the shaft with a torque bar and chain holding it or should I make a bracket and firmly mount it to either the draw bar or tractor chassis?

If I would mount it, and attach it to the frame of the tractor, Not the draw bar,

They are designed to hang from the shaft and anchor with a torque bar and chain. Been that way for 40 years or more. It will work well that way.

What kind of tractor?

Agree with Rick. The bearings on the pump don't want to be constrained. Since the whole rig will want to wobble a bit, you should let it.

It's a Kabota b2320 narrow. I need to remove the PTO shroud and still might need to add a PTO coupler to extend the shaft away from the tractor in order to fit the pump. If I do, I most certainly will need to hard mount it to something.

What kind of hydraulic load? The factory pump is respectable for a tractor it's size. 4.7gpm to the SCV and 8.3gpm if the power steering isn't hogging some flow.
Is the tractor missing the optional SCV?

Yes, I need more flow, I am going to turn a couple of motors for extended period of time at 12GPM. Also the tractor only has < 4 gallons of fluid.
