Moving to the Farm

Merry Christmas Jeff,

I have a couple sprayers and if there isn't a lot of taping to do, spraying is going to give you a nicer, more even result every time. The deciding factor is how much time and effort it will take to tape and cover everything up? In most cases, I can roll and brush a room a lot faster then I can spray it. I also factor in cleaning the sprayer after I'm done with it before deciding to use it. On new construction without any floors down, it's a no brainer. I spray. If there are a lot of windows, doors and carpet or nice flooring, I roll.

Thanks guys and Merry Christmas Eddie, I will check out those threads. Based on suggestions and reading, with new carpet in I am probably better off just rolling.

We got our final electrical inspection today and our second gas inspection. And on last minute notice we got our gas meter replaced.

I also bought a pipe bender and bent some 3/4" conduit into a shepherd's crook. Lots done today.

Here is my more wordy writeup of what happened yesterday.

Successful Inspections and a Doe | homesteaddad

I also forgot to mention that I will be painting the barn in the spring, and that was one of the reasons I considered a paint sprayer. I also figure when we build, I will be doing all the painting, although that is a ways in the future.

Thanks for all the help and tips.

Looks like everything is coming together. I thought from the headline that you had killed a doe. We are having our doe week now here in NW Florida. But over Thanksgiving weekend, when our regular gun season opened, my little cousin from Tampa killed a doe. That is not a big deal around here, as long as you are discrete about it. He took a picture with the dead doe on the tailgate of my other cousin's truck, with the tag clearly showing. He sent his mamma the picture and she put it on Face Book. As soon as they saw it, they called her and told her to take it down. She is a city girl and doesn't know about things like that. She was just proud of her son killing his first deer.

So if you do have a chance to kill a doe and it isn't doe season, you can do it, just don't blog about it.

Larro,
Around here you can purchase a private landowners don't tag. If you aren't a landowner, but no someone who is in our going to be hunting on their private property you can get a tag with their address. I'm not sure what they would do if you shot a doe out of season without it go tag. But I'd rather not find out. It is always in my opinion that you can't eat the antlers so if you see a nice big dog it's just as good as shooting a trophy deer.

Nice pictures. Glad you are getting it all hooked up. I know that first hot shower in the new house will be nice.

But if the house is slow to get ready, you can always make an igloo. Seems like you have what it takes.

My brother and I would always make igloos when we were kids. My dad would pile up all the snow with the snow blower and then we would take spray bottles out and spray down the whole pile. After the water froze we had a nice hard shell. We would dig out a door, and excavate the insides. Good times.
