I don't think you'll get a gun that you'll be happy with as a carry gun and a hunting gun.

I think you want heavy and long barrel in .357 or .44 for hunting. You want short barrel, light, high capacity for carry. For plinking I think you want .38 or 9mm for cheap ammo and low recoil.

I think some kind of .357 would be your best bet, so you can shoot .38 to plink around with and still get knock down power to hunt or for carry.

Ditto that.. I'd rather have a .44mag to hunt with.. but up close and 357 maybee in +p loads.. and then 38's for shooting-range shots..

Well I come to find that a friend of a friend is a ffl and he works directly with Sig Sauer. He has a remanufactured p229 with the .40 barrel on it and then he has the .357 sig barrel as well. I can have both for $650. It isn't the brand new model as it doesn't have the tactical rail on it, but I don't see myself using a tactical rail anyways so I don't see that as an issue. What do you guys think of this gun? I like the ability to shoot both calibers.

Now I just need to wait for my refund to arrive in my bank account so I can justify the purchase.

You're going to go broke building your gun range in your other thread.

I think you should go to a gun range in your area and see if there are some handguns there they will let you try. Other people might like a particular gun, but you might not. If you can try something before you buy it, that might be helpful to you.

I have a P229 in .357 SIG, it is an awesome handgun and has taken down many hogs, easy to reload the bottlenecked cartridge too.

Why would using the tractor to pile up some dirt, or having a load of dirt brought in make me broke?

I will try out the gun first, but even if I can't with the resale market for guns, I can't see losing money on that purchase, and everything I read about the gun is good.

Sig's are great guns, however the main thing I don't like about them is the SA/DA (single action/double action) operation.

The main reason I like Glocks are because the trigger pull is the same every time (as well as they are about as reliable as you can get).

I'm kind of biased though, as I am a Glock armorer.

Yeah, it won't be a commercial range so we will see. Whatever it is it will be safe. I am thinking in the short term it may be more effective to join the local rod and gun club and use their range. Its an outdoor range, but mine would be too, and I think it is pretty reasonable to join and then you just have to donate some time. We will see.

I like the glocks too, and if I could find a reasonably priced glock 23 I would probably get that, but you just can't find them right now.

Boy,one pistol to do all that, get you one of them thompson contender pistols,[or what ever they are called],you could hunt bear, target shoot at couple hundred yards,or blow away any bad guy you happen to run into,[course, you'll need to wear a big coat to cover up the big holster].

I love my sig.. feel very safe with it de-cocked... a glock on the other hand.. the way the back of them ar built.. can be dangerous to thumbnails!
