You'll get a lot done with that fine machine - congrats! :tractor:

Very nice.. Looks just like mine before I got it dirty. I would be interested in the 5' vs 6' mower. I am in the market for one right now.

Congrats.

You will get use to the cutter sticking out past your tires and really helps when trimming along fence lines. Yes, you will snag something from time to time, but less as you use it. Our 10' cutter sticks way out and lots of people pull bat wings; just takes getting use to.

That's a good point. Hadn't thought of it that way. I was mostly interested in saving an extra foot per pass on mowing time. It will add up!

That extra foot really does make more difference than one would think!

I think I'll try our other 6' mower on the 3800 and see how I like it. I do have places where the 5' is much more handy though...

Here's a question about turning with brakes: A buddy of mine came over last night to help me work on my shed. I showed him my new ride of course and he asked me how you can use the hst peddle and turn share with the brakes. He has a JD4310 and I guess deeres have brakes on the left? I have the cruise lever so maybe I could use that to push the hst forward and use my foot on the right/left brake? I'm traveling today so I can't try it. Just thought I'd ask. Not even sure how important this is.

You got it...... use the cruise for forward speed and steer with the brakes. Also.... it is possible to ust the hst pedal with your heel, and brake with your toes...... just a little awkward.

Yeah I could see that too. I just need to play with it. I suspect I won't find it that necessary but my friend asked and I didn't know.

I have used the brakes to turn/steer on older 2wd tractors. But find it completely unnecessary on these modern 4wd tractors.
