Thanks Eddie. My wife says the same thing. With the videos I have been making, she thinks people can’t relate to what we have done so far because they cant envision it. But once we start to put the timbers up and the line of the house becomes obvious, she thinks more people will become interested. I dont have aspirations of becoming a “youtuber” who lives off advertising dollars. But I do watch the numbers and I am competitive by nature.
We had family members telling us we needed to contact Discovery channel and do a reality TV show, because they see this as outrageous. I figured the youtube thing would be a good way to catalog what we do and also as advertising for our farm. People will be able to see that we are a real Mom and Pop shop that built this thing from the ground up. I think that will resonate with a lot of people and they will appreciate our brand more.

As for the room, it is 40x22. So it is definitely a big one.

Youtube can be tricky. Most of the time when I watch anything on YouTube, it's late at night when my wife decides to go to bed while I'm still wide awake. I look for building shows or projects on the land to watch. They put me to sleep pretty quickly, but most of the time, I start watching it and lose interest after the first minute or two from all the talking. Too many people like to talk too much and not focus on what I find interesting, like building stuff. Hunting shows are even worse!!!

We put in a full day. My kids worked in the orchard today and finished burning all the diseased clippings. Of course , they broke the side by side and I had to spend an hour fixing it. We got one post and one panel in today. Much less than I imagined we would get. There was some intricate prep work required to get that one post in and I’m glad its done. I didn’t take any pictures of the work, but here is a picture I took during cleanup.

Murphy, it certainly has it’s moments of extreme beauty. I try not to get so caught up in the build that I miss the good stuff.

As I mentioned, we did a little burning while we built last weekend.

Any thought to putting some sheathing up on those rafters just to help keep the rain off? Maybe set the sips roof right on top? Course that would create a half inch problem at the post beam center.

I put some plastic up on one side after work yesterday. I dont know if it will hold up to any wind but I figured it was worth a try. We are getting an inch of rain today so it should be a good test.
