I may see if I can find something a few years old, might save me a few bucks. I'm still trying to learn the point of the tractor, it's a crash course

A few years old your better off buying new. 5-100 years old you will save money.

Higher interest loan on used equipment plus your out 1/4-1/2 of your warranty.

If you look at the cost to fully pay off the tractor buying new and taking advantage of the promotional 0% interest ext and buying used, paying let's say 3-5% interest, it's usually a wash with a tractor only a couple years old.

Tractors hold there value much better than cars or trucks.

Tractor Attachments And Skid Steer Attachments For Any Tractor Or Skid Steer = good source for newbies to research the various implements / attachments for tractors. has videos and text that covers setup and use of it all.

craigslist: chicago jobs, apartments, personals, for sale, services, community, and events
searchtempest.com (search multi cities at one time)

TractorHouse.com | Used Tractors For Sale: John Deere, Case IH, New Holland, Kubota. = tractors and agricultural equipment
MachineryTrader.com | Backhoes for sale, skid steers, excavators, dozers. = industrial equipment

TractorData.com - information on all makes and models of tractors = gives basic specifications upon tractors.

www.youtube.com = lots of videos of how to do this or that.

google something and click up on "images" good source to find stuff if you are more of an "image person" vs read and doing person.

before warned. warranty issues, and just plain issues with tractor were it needs to be taken to dealer (new and/or used) you pay for trailing both ways to dealership. it may depend on dealer but be ready ahead of time if something comes up.

www.uship.com and other sites out there can help you find someone to trailer the tractor home for you, upon first buying of tractor if buying from non dealership.

be careful of scams on craigslist and other places. if it is to be to be true most likely is.

get your rear out there, and physical go look and test drive some new and used tractor. only way you are going to get some seat time to see what the differences are.
--new tractors, i doubt they will let you do much with them. scrapping up paint just lost the dealership money if you do not buy. on other hand used equipment you might be able to put the FEL into a dirt pile, back drag FEL, mow, scoop some dirt up. toss an implement on back and muck up some testing ground area.

My BIL has an x500 and he built a FEL for it but he only has about an acre so it is a good fit for him. I agree with the others and would say if your going to shell out the money for an x500 or x700 spend a little more and get either a SCUT or a CUT. The implements on those x series mowers are expensive and proprietary. Keep in mind a SCUT will mow a little better than a CUT and is a little lighter 1,500lbs vs 2,000 plus on a CUT; but a CUT is much more capable for larger tasks.

Have you considered a used ZTR and a new tractor with long term financing? For that much yard I would want nothing smaller than a 60" ZTR or you will be spending your weekends mowing. Used Hustler commercial super Z or something.

I would choose one of the Kubotas or Massey with the SSQA. I just converted my GC2600 to SSQA just so I can swap buckets and other tools on the front. Cost me $539 off eBay and would've been handy to have years ago. Like Cford36 said, the Deere are their own proprietary quick attach. It's nice in that you can take the bucket off for visibility/maneuvering, or swap on a set of forks, but you'll pay more for JD implements vs generic skid steer ones (lots of other companies make skid steer implements). So think long term. Would you want pallet forks to move brush, logs, or pallets of material around? A larger light material bucket for mulch, hay, or snow? Maybe a plate with a snow plow mounted to it? You can do all that with SSQA implements or blank plates off eBay for $75 that you can weld onto any implement you want. Like a 3PH quick hitch to move those implements with the loader when you need them out of the way.

I think if I buy new it's going to have to be a scut, budgetwise. The local dealer has a deal where you can get a 1023,mower,fel and trailer for $199/month

Ready to Roll Packages 123E with 23 HP diesel engine for sale | London (614) 879-662

That doesn't look bad, though I would find out how big the trailer is. From the picture the tractor just fits on there, so that means you'll be in trouble if you get a tiller or any other 3 point implement and want to take it anywhere. I bought a 5x10 for mine, and while it fit at the time I quickly realized it was too small. As soon as I put on the tiller or rear blade to go help a friend I had to take the ramp off and something hung over the back. Even more so after I got a quick hitch to speed up swapping implements (moved everything back 4-6 inches). I'm actually trying to get a 16ft one now to have enough room for everything.
