Thanks for the explanation. It was a good plan so long as the tree remained intact. BTW, we are all do-it-yourselfers here.

What about insurance? Would your homeowner's policy cover the damage caused if a homewoner accidently drops a tree on their house?

I bet cutting up a Pecan tree is probably one of the funnest things somebody could do. I would be willing (considering you all seem so nice) to skip my opportunity to cut this tree just so one of you could enjoy it...:D

Don't beat each other up trying to be the first one here!

Strange as it may sound I enjoy cutting up a felled tree. What I don't like is dealing with the brush.

Nice job rutwad, Luck has nothing to do with success when superior intellect, and skill are involved. :D

Pecan is very beautiful wood, it is a shame no one could use it. Around here, usually a tree like that has enough value to the wood, someone will come an cut it down for nothing.

nice job-good for you and thanks for sharing.

I have taken down a few big trees with my brothers and come-alongs but they didn't always come down where we wanted them to.

I had a road put in through my property a few years ago. It was fun watching the operator of the big Linkbelt excavator pushing over huge maples and yellow birches. Not to mention the VW sized boulders he moved around.
