Need to change input/output shaft direction

Build it like Jims 1025R did and use four bolt bearings like he did. You already have the sprockets and chain. Might have to come up with different shafts. Like has been pointed out, you have a tremendous amount of leverage working on bearings too close together. Having the sprockets between the bearings would make it much stronger.

Could this parallel gear box made for a small John Deere lawn tractor, which is chain driven, work on my set-up?

Here is a picture of what the gear box is going to replace as an upgrade to the John Deere....then pics of the newer gear box....

I would have to make some adjustments to the gear box to get it to work on my Hanson blower....

If the gear box isn't worth the effort then I think I'll get the older Deere chain and gear holder and beef it up with better bearings

Any thoughts....I like the fact that the gears and chain rest in oil....

Thanks, Mike

THAT gear box will reverse direction. (unless it has a third gear that is not evident)

2 gears will reverse, 3 wont.
Chain drive (and belt) will reduce speed depending on ratios of the gears or pullies.
Next consideration is speed !
Most blowers are designed to run at 540 rpm PTO speed.
If you are attempting to couple to the crankshaft output you would also require speed reduction as most engines run in the 2000-1500 rpm range.

So to reverse and reduce speed a gear box with small drive and larger output would be necessary.
