Love the extended cab and color. Amazing on the tow capacity too. I'd love to trade up my 2003 Ram 1500 for something like this one day.

Congrats on your new truck. I like the GMC grill design just a bit better than this years Chevy grill but that is not a reason to pick one over the other. Underneath they are pretty much the same.

Drove a 09 Tahoe with AFM for a while and it ran great on the highway. At 65MPH on level ground it would run on 4 or 6 cylinders and the mileage was 20+. Seamless transition from 8 to 6 to 4 cylinders. As was said unless you are looking at the display you would hardly notice.

Thanks guys!

We had some ups and downs with this deal, so adding some dealer installed equipment was not going to happen. The good news is that we picked it up this afternoon!

I love this thing and can't wait to drive it some more!

I'm sure everyone has there own opinion but for the first 500-1000 miles, try to vary the rpms as much as possible. Nothing crazy just dont go on the highway, set the cruise at 65 and drive 50 miles. I'm not one to say don't go over x amount of rpms but certainly don't redline it either. I prefer to drive it hard enough to seat the rings and valves without making it scream.

Also, go at least two oil changes (5-10k miles) before switching to synthetic. Again, everyone has there own opinion but I've built enough engines to know and they ALL had oil consumption problems when switched to synthetic right away. Most of them turbo but some NA.

Awesome truck!! Love the new GM design. One of the best looking trucks I've ever seen.

Nice truck! Congrats!

The new Chevy/GMC trucks are great for towing since you don't need a weight-distributing hitch.

The truck was a locate, so it had 45 miles on it when I picked it up. We are at 91 after going to dinner tonight at the mall. The truck drives so well. I'm really loving that 6 speed. It does wonders for the 6.0L, as the old 4 spd never felt like it was in the right gear (based on a couple friends trucks).

I'm going to be traveling locally for work next week, so it will be a good chance to break her in!

Thank for the break in advice Derek. That's what I had in mind. I've been on the highway with it, but trying to vary the rpm and speed. Haven't quite limited my speed to 55 though ;)

PAfarmer - sweet ride. With a lift I imagine its chore to get into though. My wife has a hard time at stock level!

Yep. I like a lift but like a smooth, factory like ride. I lifted my Wrangler and went with Rock Krawler. I work in the frame dept. at the plant and know all the suspension parts and build process of the Chevy/GMC trucks. I would definately lift it myself. You did an awesome job. I showed your pics to couple of buddies at the plant last night. They dug it too. Thanks for the lift info.

Congrats on the new rig. I'm trading my 2010 F250 Supercab Diesel for a 2011 Chevy Crew Cab gas myself. The one I'm getting is also a locate and is equipped very similarly to yours. Mine does have the bigger towing mirrors, but seems to be equipped very similarly otherwise.

When I bought my F250, my wife convinced me that since we were getting such a good deal, I really wouldn't miss the crew cab since I didn't carry passengers all that often. It seems like lately we've been having passengers more often than previously and we really miss the crew cab. Plus we try to alternate between taking her Honda CR-V and my pickup when we go to visit her parents and even though they're small we definitely notice how much more tight it is hauling our little dogs in the extended cab vs. the crew cab.

Plus when I bought my F250, a 3/4 ton gasser wasn't rated to pull the maximum that my trailer could handle. Since GM and Ford have redesigned their trucks after 2010 the 6.0 gas engine with 4.10 gears is rated to pull even more than my 3.55 equiped powerstroke. Since 90% of my driving is not towing, I'll appreciate the better fuel economy 90% of the time and just take it a little easier when towing fully loaded. All in all I can't complain about my Ford and since I bought it right, owning it for a little over a year is only going to cost me around $3,000 all told so I'm not too unhappy. I'll miss the diesel growl, but the not the way $.50 per gallon higher cost and lower fuel economy. Plus I've decided that once my new house is built I'm going to look for a regular cab F350 4x4 diesel just for towing heavy, and for putting a plow on, etc. At that point I'll have the space for another vehicle and can get an older diesel just to use as a work truck.

Lt Cheg -

I test drove the crew cab trucks and can attest that the ride is slightly better than the extended cab. I believe it has everything to do with the wheel base. Its so long that the normal bumps and potholes are better spaced out. That said, its a long truck, even in a standard bed configuration. I brought one home during a test drive (dealer was close) and parked it in my driveway. It fit fine, but backing out into the street took the whole width of the road, with barely enough room to manuver.

That said, I feel that this truck is very similar in normal driving to my previous truck. Smooth and comfortable with good road feel. However, when the road gets bumpy, there is a huge difference. My old truck would pitch and bounce wildly, as I had Timbrens on the front and add-a-leafs in the back. This new truck stays smooth and straight. Its very confident on the road. Got 230 miles on her already!

Chris - You were right about the tow ratings. Reading the owners manual, my truck has a tow rating of 9500 lbs. Seems like the 3.73 gears are the deciding factor, as the same equipped trucks with 4.10s are all rated at 13,000 lbs. Thats OK for me because I'll never tow that much anyway. A normal expected load will be between 5-8K pounds. And thats probably every couple of years at this point.
