New BX2370-1: Great, but jarring ride

Most of your BX's suspension/shock absorption is the air in your tires. Decrease the fluid. For the smoothest ride eliminate the fluid in your tires. A longer wheelbase, wider stance, heavier, tractor with larger tires will certainly ride more comfortably. Why filled Turf Tires on a BX?
Our Ford 3000 fits your criteria for a machine with a smooth ride, which it has. The BX was purchased to do things that the Ford is too big for (the BX also replaced a JD 425 and Cub Lo Boy). I chose the turfs as my research on TBN led me to believe they would have the smoother ride and would be best in snow. The Rim Guard was intended to aid in traction when plowing snow, general stability and additional ballast for the loader. I guess I figured that the liquid in the tires would not hurt the ride. I'm not sure having no liquid at all would improve the ride enough to make it worth not having the extra ballast.

Tlj do you mow with the front fel. I take mine off. Alot better ride. I still mow in hi range, some spots are a little bumpy though.

Empty Rim Guard from Turf Tires.

Use tire chains for snow traction.

Hang an implement, or Ballast Box on the 3-Pt hitch for counter-balance, which is needed for front axle, front seal and 4-WD longevity of your light tractor. Filled tires provide "O" counter-balance. Counter-balance must be positioned BEHIND rear axle.

Add a $250 Piranha Tooth Bar to your bucket, which allows bucket to cut into piles with reduced traction requirement. (PTB is a great BX option, regardless of tire type.)

Air filled Turf Tires are fine. You created the harsh ride by loading the Turf Tires.

In following T-B-N have you even once read of a 'BX' owner with air-filled Turf Tires complain of a jarring ride?

I'm not sure removing liquid will improve the ride enough to make it worth not having the extra ballast.

Ride will be CUSHY with Rim Guard out.

Do not stick with a minor less-than-optimum decision because the BX is new.

Save your body.

I occasionally operate a BX2230 with Turf Tires in a two acre garden.

With a properly filled (70% fill) tire, I cant see any difference in the ride if both are inflated to the same pressure. With the small BX tires AND the short wheel base, it is going to ride rough. Just reduce the pressure to the minimum needed to keep the tire beads seated and it should help smooth things out. However, nothing less than a good suspension seat is going to make it tolerably smooth during high speed operation. Tractors have no give in them other than the tires and the smaller the tractor, the smaller the tires and the rougher the ride. Given the narrow spacing of the tires, short wheelbase and little bitty tires, you cant get a much rougher ride than that of a BX.

My bx2670 rides rough also but smaller tires than my b2630..My tires also say rim guard on them but I think this is type of tire not that their filled I believe..Unless you filled yours. When starting out in low range going forward my hydro is jerky does anyone else have this problem, went to shop came back same way

I've used filled turfs in the winter and non-filled R4's in the other half of the year. To me, I CAN certainly notice the difference. The smaller diameter wheels/tires cannot "roll over" the bumps like the much larger diameter wheels/tires of an L series, for example.

I personally think the BX rides as good or better than other super compact machines. I've a bad back and I move more slowly in doing just about everything, including traversing rougher ground. Slow down.

We have a new BX 2670 with R4's it is rough. I let the air down to 12 pounds when the loader is not on it, helped a lot but still rough. I have tried putting 500 pounds of dirt in the loader to smooth out the ride but the ground has to be dry and hard, but it will smooth out the ride some. I don't remember our old BX 2200 being this rough.

hope the excitement of a new machine will still over ride the jarring ride you're feeling. too bad dealerships won't own up to prospective buyers that although the subcompacts are extremely versatile, because of their narrow/short wheelbase, sure, the ride will be rough. they could even have test drives over a rough surface, not just asphalt... it's all about physics (& age :) . there's some great advice here from seasoned owners. i'll bet somewhere along the line, you'll find compromise. you might even try a cheap elastic back support, that helps me a bunch over my rough terrain even w/a larger tractor & zero turn mower. But don't let the temporary discomfort take away from that new toy!! you'll find a way

Well said! I certainly, enjoy the benefits of mine despite the ride while mowing...like someone said, "slow down and smell the roses" and you won't even notice the bumpy ride...kind of...

Thank you for the positive words, big bubba. We really do love the machine, or at least its versatility. It was just disappointing after my wife and I both had headaches from all the bouncing around. This is the first tractor we've owned with a FEL, albeit small. Certainly will be a nice side kick to our Ford 3000 and RTV1140. I think once we figure out the best route to take (add suspension seat, remove rim guard ballast, both, neither, etc.) it will be fine. We'll see what the dealer has to say tomorrow. Here it is tucked away for the week, minus the loader:
