New BX25, Tacoma tow Vehicle, What Trailer?

I am gonna step up and say- all these opinions is a bit over rated and being over thought. A simple 16'er trailer under 2k unladen weight will be fine for the BX. Airbags are not needed in my opinion. With a dual axle 16' trailer, the BX balances nicely with FEL all the way to front. Just add WD bars and the trailer will sit straight with tacoma.

Look at the facts- BX+FEL+BH=roughly 2600lbs + trailer 1600 to 1800lbs 16'= 4200 to 4600lbs. His tacoma will pull it just fine. Aluminum trailer is nice, but will he be transporting his BX in middle of winter with salt on roads? A simple steel trailer is fine and very useful for other things.

Well then, guess you pull alot of trailers and stuff with your TACOMA......

You got a fantastic deal. A trailer like you described would go for about $2.3k from what I have seen around here. Of course we have a 9.4% sales tax so that is a factor when buying new. No tax on used trailers.

When I started looking, I found well used trailers for $1,800 to $2,300 and they needed new tires. Well, tires are about $100 each which added $400 to the cost of a trailer. New trailers were in the $2,300 to $2,600 range. I never did understand why the folks selling beat-up trailers through they we so valuable.

Here is my trailer with a friends L3700 sitting on it. Good luck in your search.

Here is a picture if my BX on my trailer. I don't own the truck anymore but still have the trailer. Its not the greatest picture, but my BX with end loader and a brush hog on it pretty much fills up the trailer. Its a 16+2 trailer, which means a 16' flat bed with a 2' dove tail. Mine also doesn't have any side rails. Some times the side rails get in the way, such as opening a car door, but they can also be handy to keep stuff on the trailer or to tie lightweight stuff down.

The mechanic said the same thing. I have it set so the trailer brakes do most of the stopping, which I was told is correct, but I still had premature wear on the pads and the cracked rotor.
You can tear up breaks pretty quickly without realizing it. In my teenage years, my buddies and I all had mid-80s Camaros. I did one stop from about 130 MPH, not a panic stop, but that still is a lot of heat to dump into your brakes. They were fine before that and it heated them so much they were not just glazed, the front rotors quickly developed pits in them which shredded the pads. After spending all my pocket money on parts and my whole Saturday replacing the brakes, I did not abuse them anymore.

I did a pant-load of hymn-hawin' around regarding a trailer. For resons to numerous to list, I ended up w/ a 7 x 14 Dump trailer and boy, am I ever so happy I went that way. A 15' long unit would be ideal only in-so-much that I have the swing the boom left or right to get the rear doors to close, no biggie...

Would a 1992 Toyota PU be enough to tow a BX23 TLB?

How long and how many times are we going to go though this? My guess is you do not need a trailer or need to tow this tractor because its been about 5 years now and you still have not gotten a trailer or a truck capable. In my eyes that means its not needed.

I wouldn't try it. With the trailer and the tractor, there's some weight there. Safest with any type of fullsize puckup.

Several years ago, my wife and I flew to Portland, OR to help my sister sort/sell stuff after her husband died. I sold her 2 cylinder 12 hp 4WD Kobota tractor with only 400 hours on it. He, also left a 6 year old, 4 cylinder, Tacoma PU, 4WD 4-speed with only 15,000 miles on it. My sister asked me to drive it back to Phoenix and sell it for her. I used a 5x10 high side utility trailer to load her stuff including a T-1460 Kubota riding mower, a JD single blade plow, a 48" cat 1 tiller, thousands of rounds of ammunition, rifles, guns and lots of other stuff. I am guessing the trailer weighed 3,000 lb. That little truck really impressed me on the 1500 mile trip to Phoenix. I had to use 1st gear up some of the mountains - 18 wheelers were passing us as sometimes were only going 15mph. It was a 4 lane highway. It towed fine on less hilly country. I ended up buying it from my sister as my wife liked it so much, she would not let me sell it. We ended up giving it to my son. He drives the wheels off it but gets 24mpg around town. I only get 18 mpg in my V-6 Tacoma. That experience has greatly increased my respect for Toyoda's little 4 cylinder engines. I still wouldn't buy a 4-cylinder if I was going to tow anything more than once every few years.

IMO the biggest thing I would be worried about is cornering. The trailer brakes will help you stop and Toyota makes great engines and transmissions. But a lot of trailer weight can push the rear of the truck (jack knife) if your not careful if your slowing but not using the brakes to take a corner.
