New BX25?

The advantages in the BX2660 would be that bit of extra hp and the 20% larger radiator. There are two disadvantages. One is the extra $1500 it would cost to put the Woods bh on instead of going with the BX25 (it costs to retrofit the hydraulics, seat, take off wheels, etc., to get to frame, properly bolt/torque subframe to mainframe, etc. et. al.). One more little disadvantage to the Woods BH6000 is that when you have the 3ph lift arms at full lift, you cannot also have them at full spread, and at full spread, you cannot have them at full lift. The ends of the 3ph lift arms hit the upper coupling points on the 4ph for the backhoe subframe. Scrounger (Matt) has some pics of this in the archives, and mine does the same thing. I think I am going to be able to solve this little problem with an angle grinder, however, by shaving a bit of the "ears" off.

If you buy a bx2660 and add a woods hoe wouldn't you have the best of both worlds?
The new hydro and metal parts and seat would be nice. Power is not the issue for me.
Why would they make a bx25 and not change anything?

I was at a dealer last week and I was told the new models are coming out to meet new emission requirements. They also fixed a few things that folks had been complaining about (ie. Seat, plastic hood and hst hard stopping).

Hmmm....all your responses have been very helpful - thanks. Sounds like it's going to be the D902 engine with emission control additions - part of me wants to rush out and buy the one without those, and the other part wants to have a greener tractor. A big part of getting a tractor is to help with my pretty bad back problems - I read about a snappy HST in changing directions and I wonder if the improved one is worth waiting for to reduce the pressure on my back. What do you BX24 owners think? My dealer still seems to think he can get me a new BX25 in July or August - but he seemed to think it would be based on the D1005.... hmmm. He should have the dealer announcement now though. If I had to wait until October or later I would probably get the BX24 rather than lose the summer with it. Be nice to have a seat that turned round as easy as possible and locked in smoothly. Plastic fenders - there seem to be pros and cons enough for them to not be a deciding factor.

I'll make my mind up next week....

Here is a link:

Kubota Canada : Manufacturer of compact diesel tractors, construction equipment, agricultural equipment, power washers and engines.

I have a dealer spec sheet, dated June 5th 2008, here:

-redesigned HST, smoother changes in direction
-Metal hood and fenders
-better seat - as found on Grand L40
-allows loader to move at engine idle
-25.5hp D1005 engine

Dealer here expected it to be 1200-1500 canadian dollars more than the BX24.

Pete

Thats a spec sheet for a BX2660 not a BX25

The BX25 will have the D902-E2BX2 Kubota diesel with 23 Gross HP and 17.7 PTO HP

Except that it would cost more and the 3ph arms hit the 4ph for the bh when at full width/full lift. Some do believe that the Woods bh is a tiny bit stronger than the Kubota bh. When I dig in dry clay or hardpan, the hoe throws the tractor all over the place. (And that is with FEL and stabilizers are all down.)

I hear you loud and clear on this issue. Getting old stinks, but it is better than the alternative. I personally don't have any problems with the HST and changing directions. Just like driving a car, some people stomp one pedal then stomp the other, while other people know how to ease off of one and ease onto the other.

The place you are more likely to pull a back muscle or slip a disc is in changing implements. I have all of mine on dollies. We have a 3 car garage with each bay a bit deeper than average. The 2 cars each take up a space and the 3rd is for the tractor and implements. When time to change implements, the 2 cars back out to make room for rolling everything around. I custom built all of my dollies myself to make each implement move in the easiest manner possible. Even at 800 lb. the backhoe moves right up to its 4ph and I can make minute allignment adjustments with the push of a couple of fingers. Implements that sit outside on the ground can be a bear to get alligned and attached; dollies on smooth flat pavement makes all the difference in the world. Another advantage to the BX here is that a subcompact tractor takes implements that are smaller than a compact or bigger tractor, thus reducung the weight you have to handle.

i dont want to mix and match different pieces to make up the unit i want it together from kubota

There have been many TBN members who have put a Woods bh on their tractors. Other than the cost and this minor hitch issue, there have been only positive reports about the BH6000. Many members believe that the Woods BH70X and BH80X are superior to the Kubota BH75 on Kubota B series tractors. There are many other attachments you might wind up using on the three point hitch of your tractor, and Kubota only makes a very few of them. Woods, Gearmore, and other manufacturers build some fine pieces of machinery that attach to tractors. I have attachments built by many other companies that work very well on my Kubota tractor. For me, the name Kubota represents quality, but there are others whose quality is just as good. And, BTW, Kubota dealers usually sell these other brands and usually will be quite honest with you regarding whether another company's attachment will work better and is more cost effective than the Kubota version.
