I think we could use a "ELECTRICAL" forum. It could be divided into 12v tractor/truck wiring and also high voltage AC.

Great idea!! From the electrical systems in our tractors, trailers and trucks to the electrical in our tractor sheds, out buildings, and water pumps, there have been thousands of question and most of them answered here.

Maybe even a third section "Solar and Wind", for the off the grid or want to be off the grid folks.

(I can see a lot of future advertisement $ for the site with the 3rd section.)

I kinda lean the other way on this.

I think their are already TOO many sections. Many of them over lap. And a lot of times an electrical problem is specific to brand. But the home wiring questions????

Hypothetically: Say I have an electric DCV I want to plumb into the hydraulics to control a grapple I built for my kubota and I have a few questions about wiring it.

Should it go in:

Customization?
Build it yourself??
Projects??
Kubota?
Hydraulics?
Attachments??
Your newly proposed "electrical"???

LD1: If it is an electrical issue it should go under "electric" even if involving a hydraulic unit.

I think we could even expand this "electric" forum to include a communications section, computer networking (LAN, WLAN, etc...), and anything else where wiring is involved.

That would be a good place instead of Rural Living to have posted my local HDTV antenna and MIFI questions?

Electrical Power and Communications Forum (The Wire Forum)

1. General - 12v and Battery (Tractor, vehicle, trailer, golf carts, remote gates)
2. Home (All electricity from the grid)
3. Solar/Wind (All electrical off the grid)
4. Communications (Computer/Phone/TV/Alarms/Satellite/ etc...)

I like the way you outline the different categories....and this may be a stupid question, but if a new forum dealing with electrical issues were started, what would happen to the existing, older threads that deal with electricity, would they remain separate or be transferred to the new forum? Electricity is something that really interests me and I would enjoy seeing all the threads grouped on one forum rather than being scattered all over.

The creation of this new forum as well as the transfer of threads would of course be up to Muhammad. I think any tractor specific electrical problem should stay under the specific tractor category, however general (same on all tractors) electrical threads could be transferred. It would be NICE to get all the older threads into the "Wired Forum" but that would be a lot of work.

If I feel electrified when I get up and want to tell some one, what section do I post it in?

I found lots of good electrical information on garagejournal.com. I thought it was a sister site of TBN.

Like I've said before: "Sometimes it seems like TBN is EBN - ElectricalByNet". A dedicated electrical section would be great!
