First thing I did on mine was remove that useless, waste of plastic lock. Second was turf the solid spout and put a flexible one on it. Third was drill a hole in the back/top and stick in a tire valve with the Schrader valve removed and put just a valve cap on it. Only problem is you can't buy the corrugated spouts around here any more and I'm dubious of the ones on Scamazon.

Lots of Youtubes on how to defeat the "safety " features. A big one to fix for me was removing the fine mesh plastic cup in the fill port.

I don't pour gas anymore. I remove all that spout crap and just close the jug with a plain cap. I use this handy pump to fill all my small engines. It fits in most cans up to 5 gal. or so:

I have two of these pumps. I don't know why the price doubled since I bought the first one a year ago.

For plastic gas cans it’s hard to beat the No Spill cans.
For metal cans, the Justrite Type II are great (watch nozzle size).
If your Jerry cans are leaking, get new cap and nozzle gaskets.

The ones I had (and threw away) were leaking from the flexible metal tubes, not at the gaskets.

All my fuel cans (1-5 gal) are old school BLITZ cans. They work great, and no spills. No longer manufactured, but can be found at auctions and garage sales.

These aren’t bad for a small can and the nozzle is easily replaced with the many available on Amazon.
