My 336D was loose in there as well. I removed the play by loosening the two (4?) big bolts which hold the front-most center bracket (the bolts are vertical going up into the hood assembly) in place and banging the bracket forward, then re-tightening. Just be sure the axle is all the way to the rear of the play, so when you slide the bracket, it goes all the way. There should be zero play in that pivot.

Domush - I think you are right on the money with your assessment. When it dries up, I will definitely check this first (along with all the appropriate greasing)

I also want ROPS, but the freekin cost - ouch. I rolled a jeep CJ offroading once and was almost killed except for the roll bar, so I know first hand what a safety concern this really is.

Thanks much guys!
Don

Here are pics of the rear Hyd setup. Seems simple. Ask any questions needed. Thanks for all your input CD! - Don

Photos below

Thanks DT and you are welcome any time!

Pic 1 shows me just what I was wondering about I have a hose running from one port to the other and my knob is inop for the 3pt lock and I was wondering if my block was modified for auxiliary hydraulics looks like it is cool I am happy about that.

Noticed the grease fitting also. NO, I have not greased anything yet. (next order of business on a dry day). there is a bit of front/back play but may be some greasing would help, but it really looks like the main retainer bolts need snugged up.

I was going to say it needs greased occasionally looks like it hasn't had any recently. :D

I had a slight front pinion seal leak on mine no surprise I guess but I added a breather hose and slowed it down a lot still leaks but no where near as bad as it did. I will post the pics or link for you it may be something later on you want to do if yours has the plug in the top of the diff.

Hope this works...

Hey CD,

I do have a filler bolt on top of the axle (at least left side) and yes, have a drain plug under pinion. Will open drain to see what (if any) is in there then refill to see if I have an issue. Thanks!:D

You are welcome! That sounds like the fill plug they all have that and it may have a dipstick in it rather than the vent plug I was showing in the pics?

Reason I mentioned this is these front diffs are not vented and thats probably due to the fact they were designed to be run in rice paddy's and with all the water and so on they didn't see any reason to vent them, yours however is a US spec and was designed for here and thats why I brought it up just in case. Mine is Jap spec and has the plug so I presumed all the bigger units had them but so far I seem to be the only one unless you do?

Front axle leaks in various points are very common on almost all these small tractors of all brands seems like and this will help alleviate the normal pressure build up inside that can cause seals to give in and start leaking if you have the plug great if not just disregard my reference to it you are not alone.

Box of parts arrived from Hoye (Thanks guys) - and upon (first things first) inspecting the owner's manual, it does go over all the standard "do's and donts).

So I start off with all the filters/fluids - New air filter ordered, new Oil filters ordered, Hyd filter and mandatory replacement seat.

Open up the air pre-filter and ......... It's clean! Open up the main filter, and IT LOOKS BRAN NEW!!!!! Before moving onto the Oil Hyd filters, let's check fluid levels....

Tranny/hyd fluid is completely perfect. Oil is mostly clean and at perfect level. Holy cow - somone took care of this puppy!

Start looking over the FEL and front end. Hey, the YFL-1500 loader is a "drive in - Quick attach) unit. Pop two hyd lines and loosen a few bolts/pins - put a prop rod up under the bucket cross beam and drive her back and out. Who was the genious that thought of this setup?

I'm really starting to think restore on this unit as it leaks NOTHING. All electrical works, solid unit - hmmmmmmmmmm.

finaly, I see in the manual that there is an OPTIONAL FRONT PTO unit? Whats up with that? I guess there is a dash mounted toggle switch for on/off, but what is the front PTO normally used for and is it electric? Any input guys?

Thanks again for assisting me in making a solid purchase
Best, Don:thumbsup:

Thanks much Winston1. I did also pickup the "Service" manual with the owners manual, but alas, I lack the front PTO. looks like a kit that could be fitted on and MAYBE run a big honkin snow blower? <methinks>

I live where we have that 8th wonder of the world called "Lake Effect snow" :confused2:

Ok CD, Got a wrench and checked the stick on the front axle for fluid level - - NOT EVEN REGISTERING. Yick. Had picked up a gallon of 90 weight diff oil and brought it up to 'full'. Also, broke out the pneumatic grease gun and hit all the fittings especially those right in front of and behind the front drive shaft. Will keep a close eye on it, but it doesn't seem to be leaking any oil. I did get a few drips of WATER out of the joint where I indicated it was moving a bit in a previous post. Me thinks the grease will help displace any gunk, keep the oil in, and the water out. Time will tell. Thanks again. -D

How low was it? That post makes it sound like it took a whole gallon of oil! I realize it didnt, i dont even think it will hold that much from empty.
