Slow down Mike. You're reading too fast. I corrected myself in that post, so...what's your point? /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Very nice work, J Long. If I had a photo of my joystick with hose clamps, I'd post it so you would know what ugly really is. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif Your job looks great and the cap nuts are a nice addition. Thanks for the photos. I'm sure all Class III owners will appreciate your creative solution. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

jinman,

Thanks for your compliments. I am happy to contribute. I sure have learned alot from previous posts from you and others. I am always amazed by the wealth of infomation on this website, and it's nice to give a little back.

Anyone: It seems that everyone with the broke joystick has the Deluxe (hydro) model. Has anyone had the thing bust on geared models? The setup looks a bit different but I could be wrong there. Thanks guys, although I have been "expecting" my to go anytime now . . . JEH

JEH,

The 'D' model tractors have a much different stick. It includes wiring for the dual speed switch and is made more like a molded style rather than the old rod and ball style.

tc35dforme: Thanks . . . have you heard of the things busting on the geared models? I've seen the "D" joysticks (tested one when looking) and the folks who've had problems all seem to have the "D". The question was whether the standard one's have had the same problems, i.e. should I be concerned about mine busting? As I've begun to use mine, the thing slips into the float position easier and easier. I can see where too much force forward (into float) could put a strain on it and cause a snap. Thanks. JEH

JEH, another owner, user name MIKIM, who works for weather service here in TX has a "non-D" model and has never experienced a problem with his joystick. It's the attachment to the "D" model handle that makes the joystick weak. Once you fix the problem, the rest of the joystick is substantial enough to take any normal use without breaking. If you don't have a "D" model tractor, I wouldn't worry.

No-Joy-Joystick #4 just threw in the towel at SMU 437. That is less then 110 hours per joystick. And to add insult to injury, this was the one my friend strengthened. I am going to re-engineer the whole !@#$%^&* thing to make it stronger. Updates will follow as events warrent.
