think about this.

canned meat, canned milk, shelf stable cheese ( velvita.. etc.. ) and some of them sealed packs of crackers that are good for a few years.

in a true emergency where you just need some calories for a few days. canned milk, meat-stuff and chee-stuff on crackers will get you there.
