A cab is for tractor work where you are getting into your tractor and spending time in the seat. If you plan on getting in and out then the doors get old. For example, if you are doing gardening and driving over to a pile of sod, getting a bucket full then returning to the garden where you dump it, smooth it with the bucket, and then get out and spend a minute or two raking it multiple times I cab can get old. If it's just the direct sun beating down on you then maybe a sun canopy would work for you. Most brands offer one as an option. I personally don't mind not having a cab while snow blowing. I just aim the chute downwind and it's not an issue. It's never really that cold when it snows.

In the end buy what you want, not what you think you want to spend. A tractor is not like a car. It can be a very long term purchase if you get it right. The extra money spent now over that long run really isn't that much. Plus if you decide down the road that you should have gone the other way the money you will loose by selling to buy a new one is going to hurt a lot more. Also lean how to take care of it. After 11 years my Kobota still looks mostly new (with a couple battle scars) and I can see me keeping it for another 20 years.

Love my cab. I wouldn't try to use it for long without an AC but I wouldn't drive my truck for long without an AC either. lol

I use both a cab and non cab and find it easier getting in the cab since it has a grab handle to help me up. And that AC feels great here in the deep south!

Another vote for Original Tractor Cab Company. I just installed mine on my John Deere 4410, along with a 3 point hitch snowblower. I have not hooked up the free heater they give you, and so far have not needed it. When it is windy and cold you will not be sorry you made that purchase! I plan to remove the panels in the summertime.

I sat on an open station today; not a good day to.... :) 22 degrees out and very cold burst of wind. I was hoping that they'd have the Mahindra 1635 cab but they had open station. I don't like that they don't have 0% interest. It's 3.75% for 84 months with an option to "buy" down the interest to 0%/

I have a Cozy Cab on my deere 2720.
The doors lift off easily without tools and it is nice mowing in the shade from the roof.
In the winter, it is a must have for blowing snow. Especially around the buildings where the wind seemingly blows from every direction at once.

Perfect day for blowing. Sunshine and tailwind. Warm enough in the cab to turn the heater down. Spent about three hrs today. Thinking I have the bugs worked out of the fel mounted blower. 988D566C-D6B2-4F3C-9966-A60A8A7B99FE.jpeg

While a cab can be a PITA it also provides a warm or cool work space. Keeps all the water and snow off my electronics as well. With all the computers, sensors and switching on new tractors I can't imagine that stuff gets repaired for low money because it got wet. Cab sounds pretty cheap now don't it.

If you play in the woods all that glass is broken easily if you get a little rowdy.

I'll not own any tractor without a cab unless it is a lawn mower.

You aren't going to get any younger year after year. What you think and say today about being a hearty gents who dresses warm will not apply when you get older - and you will get older and the tractor will be the same.
I've never met a man that bought a cab and regretted it, but shurehave read about many that didn't buy a cab and regretted it.

I'm not going to go on and on about the virtues of a cab, or about how the can literally saved my life from killer bees, or again saved my life in 120 plus temps when me and the wife huddled inside the can to get cool from laying 100; of PVC pipe. We'd run out work literally for 10-15 min and have to come back and get cool or die from heat exhaustion. Or how it saved me from getting my eye stabbed with a needle sharp palm leaf from.

Lastly there's the part about you OWE IT TO YOUR SELF. we all work hard and we deserve to take some of the pain out of work and a cab does that.

But if you still feel layers of clothes so you're twice the size you are trying to fiddle with the controls all bundled up, with your eyelashes frozen with little ice cycles, frozen red cheeks, ears half froze off, not feeling your finger tips - then go without a cab.

Anyone who's been smacked in the face by a twig on a cold winter day probably has a cab by now. Bad enough in the summer, but being cold gives it a whole lotta zing.
