Has anyone looked at or used one of these? They come in wagon or trailer form. You can add a hydraulic piston.

Northern tool has those brought in from Canada from a company called Millside. They are weak at the hinge point and bend pretty easily. They copied a design made by Country Manufacturing who used to sell to Northern, but they cheapened the design quite a bit. OK, picked it up yesterday, for about US$1300 before tax. Here is how far I have gotten in assembling it. <img src="http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=476636"/> Hey, at least it made it into the bed of the pick up truck!

Ok, tonight I started the assembly of my new Woodland Mills trailer.

First, remove the cardboard box, exposing the parts all nestled in the steel crate:

Step 2: take out all the parts (a lot of which felt quite heavy):

Nice galvanized steel trailer bed! (Will definitely need help getting it off the truck and onto the frame after I assemble the frame.

Partially assembled wheel sections. Note that each side will be on it's own stub axle - no long axle between them, since the bottom of the trailer bed is so low. (Edit: No, it is so that the two sides can pivot independently.)

OK, enough work for one evening. More tomorrow.

Mounting on this stub axles is one of the advantages of the walking arm suspension. It leaves you more ground clearance than a through-axle would.

I'm curious what you think of the stub axle attach points and the frame strength in that area. I've never seen one of these trailers in person, but a possible downside of the stub-axle mounting is that they can bend if the mounting point is not robust enough.

OK, it is tomorrow now. Finished most of the frame. Now I just have to get that 200 pound steel dump box down off the pick up truck and onto the trailer frame.

The fact that the stub passes through the frame is good. I've seen some where they were just butt-welded onto the frame. The frame looks stout enough to avoid getting twisted by the load (especially when you consider that it's just one of 4 wheels supporting a trailer with up to 2000# of payload.

How does it look where the walking arm attaches to the main trailer frame?
