Off road dump trailer options

I can back this mess up about 3 feet before I get all tangled up and I drove semis for 10 years lol.

No wonder you can't back that combination up - you can't see the splitter well enough to know what it's doing.

Piston did you order that trailer yet? I want pics and report of how it works out when you get it.

My worry is using off road - like on hilly roads through my property, not flat fields "off road" - and how it would influence the tractor while loaded heavy full of #2 gravel or dirt, being that the trailer has no brakes.

I'm actually going to look at a used Pronovost today. It's a 4'x6' model, and as long as it's in decent working condition I should be coming home with it.

Came home with a Pronovost model 503 dump trailer. I like the size but I may want to add some height to the sides down the road.

Haven't had a chance to use it yet, I need to get different QD fittings for the hydraulic hose.

Hey that's great glad you found what you needed. I was hoping you would get the Brekelman though so you could give us a report on it
I am thinking it has more ground clearance which would be good for my use.

I had almost wished I didn't find the used one for sale as well, I was pretty excited to buy the nice new yellow one, and your right it doesn't have much ground clearance.
I talked myself into the savings of this used trailer because I'm trying to save up some cash for a 3 point hitch Brown Tree Saw, so instead of the $3500 I would have spent in the trailer, I spent $1,000 on this one and now have another $2,500 towards the tree saw.

I would say you got a heck of a deal. Thanks for the photo. That's not to bad for clearance. I saw an old Taylor-Way trailer with a vertical cylinder and the closed end was down below the axle - yikes.

I just got home with the twin to Piston's new little Pronovost trailer. I have been looking for a small off road dump trailer for a while. I bought it from the brother of the man Piston bought his from. Piston was the one who told me it was available which I appreciate very much.

I unloaded the trailer this morning. It is small but just right for my small tractor and my tight woods roads. It will haul 1.5 ton so a yard of gravel say.





I wish I had this trailer last week when I put in this culvert.

I have the Sure-Trac "Utility Dump" model trailer. Don't have enough posts to post a link.

It's a great heavy duty trailer at 9' x 4.5' with a built-in 12v hydraulic power unit so you can dump it from any tow vehicle. It's powder coated tough and is thick steel. The ends of the box turn into ramps which have grip embedded in the finish. There are 4 heavy tie downs welded inside the bed and 6 open braces that you can chain to on the outside. It dumps to a high angle... No sticking.

The best part is it's also DOT approved so you can register and tow it down then highway. Full LEDs.

Cost is around $2k.

Its capacity is rated conservatively at 2150lbs as it has a 3500lb axle, 3320lb rated tires capacity, and only weighs 840lbs. I suspect factoring a 15% tongue weight, it's safe even loaded to 2800lbs for around yard use.

I'm really happy with it and it does everything I need it to.
