Am thinking of buying a larger brushhog to make my mowing
go a little faster and also to fit the wider LS u-5030.
What I need to know is the extra cost of two tail wheels
worth adding. My old five footer has one wheel and it works
fine but it does dig in on my steep fields.
Have any of you used both and if you have, what do you think.
The new bushhog will be a six footer.

Two are better for some rough land, but one will usually stay within the cutting circle when turning. Trade off. I have one now but sometimes would like two like my old cutter.

I think you kinda answered your own question. You've had the single wheel type dig in, the 2 wheel type would stop some of that. 2 wheels will also stop some of the scalping if you have that happen. Depends on the ground you mow and how smooth a job you want to do. I have a single rear on my bushhog but I've been thinking about how to adapt gauge wheels to the front. Now that would give a smooth job but it would always take more work to set up for different cut heights.

I use mine for mowing road ditches on my farm. I have a single rear wheel and I feel it helps avoid scalping when I get to the top of the ditch where the 'ridge' is. If you have all flat ground that you are mowing, 2 wheels may be an advantage. I wouldn't even consider 2 wheels for what I use mine for.

We have two 10' mowers with dual wheels which are a necessity, but as per flyinlow402, it may or may not help on a six footer. Overall on my 6' cutter, I guess it would be a toss up.
