One of the things we do is put on the sheeting for the roof on the roof.

Here's four of us up there.

When I tell folks that us guys in Texas cut our thirty year siding with box knives they think we're talking stuff.

Any time we have to make a cut and there's a seam to follow we'll usually use a box knife to score the metal using the seam as a guide. It's hard on the blades and thirty year sheeting is thick and tough. But after a couple of passes with the box knife we can fold the metal back and forth and it'll break clean as a whistle.

Keep in mind I carry all kinds of metal snips, a plasma torch, a Bosch nibbler, and a Milwaukee hand shear. But on long lengthwise cuts where I have a seam as a guide I prefer a box knife.

It just looks hard. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Hi Harvey,

When you say a box knife, is that the same as a sheetrock knife? Or are you talking about those smaller versions that you keep beaking the tip off of when it goes dull?

Great tip, thanks.

Thanks Wushaw, Harvey's calculator also says #4 wire.

Harvey I will need a lot of tips when I get to the sheet metal cutting.

I noticed the trim. Did you make it yourself or do you order it with the sheets? How many different types of trim are there?

OK, continuing with the carport/storage, after the vegetation is removed I replace it with a good sand based gravel.
