I'm back from vacation and back at it.

The walls of the storage area are complete. When I laid the top plate on the post they looked so pretty and level, instead of using the connectors I just welded them to the post. I cut the corners so they would lay flat on top of each other. On the corner post to the carport I left half covered so the top plate from the carport will fit flush with the storage area.

1. Do you see any problems with using two "L" connectors on the corner of the storage area? One to be used as a backing inside the skin and the other to be used to hold the purlin. (This will only be on one side, the other side will have a doorway) see attachment.

2. Should I end the last pole of the carport with a "Pass-through" connector or the end connector? The reason I am asking is because I don't know how the end trim will be connected and I thought I might need to attach a "L" bracket to the "pass through connector" to attach the end trim. see attachment.

3. For the roof edge purlin should I attach it at the edge of the top plate? How did you attach the "L" bracket at an angle? Did you attach the purlin at an angle or did you leave a space at the bottom of the "L" bracket? see last two attachments.

1. I'd make the ends with corners, (one right-one left) and then us a right angle to hold the vertical purlin for finish out. Those ends are going to be hard to finish out. I've never done one so you're venturing into something I'd like to see.

2. The corners do not need anything else than the brackets and the purlins. The corner trim picks up the panels and there's nothing left loose to worry about.

3. I treat the piece on top of the top plate as a purlin running between the rafters. I also put it in the middle of the top plate so I have room to attach to the top plate from underneath, going up from the top plate into the purlin.

You won't be attaching the side sheets to the purlin over the top plate so there's no reason to have it flush. Having the purlin aligned with the rafter instead of the top plate gives you more area to attach the roof sheets to the purlin. This way you also get more contact area for your foam blocks for the sheets over the room area.

4. I really appreciated your post when I got in last night. I'm trying to deal with a couple of companies about licensing the system and a couple more about manufacturing them for me. It's like screaming inside of culvert if you know what I mean.

I know the product is a good one and I'm sure it will help a lot of people like yourself. The difficult part for me is convincing others.

With the framed walls up it is now time for the fun part, the roof!

I have the 32' long (2" diameter) pipe ready to put up. I left the 2 extra feet on and will trim it off later.

Today it is raining and thundering, at last, and the rest of the week it will reach 100 degrees. A good day to plan.

For the roof structure the ridge pole will be supported by temporary supports as the rafters made up and attached.

Since there are five poles on each side I will have 5 rafters.

There will be 3 purlins, one at the top one midway and one at the wall.

The rafters will be made by attaching at the midway to lower part with a purlin and "V" purlin supports.

Are 3 purlins longways connecting the rafters sufficient?

Should there be a purlin attaching the front poles, or will the first rafter be sufficient?

What height should the ridge pole be above the top of the wall?
