Ouch! 19 hours on 3320 that was "ordered"?

Found this engine decal after looking under the hood. I'll sure be looking a lot more carefully if/when conducting business with this dealer. At this point I've asked for a NEW unit or cancel the deal.

I would do the same. I bought my 2012 this year so presumably it had been sitting on the lot for a while and was being moved around occasionally. It had less than one hour on the meter when I got it.

So what was the dealer's response to your request? 19 hours of use would be about 2 months for me. It's a long time in the operator's seat, or worse, sitting idling for some reason.

I'd like to know how they can put nearly 20 hours on a machine unless it was used several times as a demo machine at a fair or exhibition to drag an arena, etc. To me that's still "used", and should carry a price discount.

My L3400 had less than 2 hours on the meter when I got it.

I would run like the wind to get away from this deal. You have to question the integrity of the dealership that tells you they are going to order you a tractor, which to me, means a fresh factory build. In November 2007, I "ordered" a 4720 with the ComfortGard cab. It took just over 6 weeks to arrive from its birthplace in Georgia. It arrived with less than an hour on the meter.''

A new ordered tractor does not have 19 hours. If he had told you that he could find one from another dealer that might have a few hours but the complete warranty and save you money, and you agreed, then that is fine. But he didn't to that and that is wrong.

I suspect this happens more than we know and I am sure that some here will say just forget it and move. Well not me. I've been contributing to the success of John Deere for 30 years now. And, I think they have made some money on me. But their dealers have to honest and up front with me.

Demand a new tractor or walk away.

I would def consider it " used" and want a new one! Mine had .4 on the clock:)

Normally I would say that 19hrs would still be considered new in my book. Especially if there is now wear of the paint around the loader (If equipped), or other areas. I'd say that if it was on his lot already, and you looked at THAT machine, and your only issue was hours, I'd say you'd have no beef.

BUT.....since you "ordered" a machine, I think you were mislead, and I too would be upset. Normally, "ordering" a machine, as opposed to buying one already on the lot costs more money.

Curious to see how this plays out.

This sounds like it is time to skip the saleman and go to Deere district manager with your issue. I would tell the dealer that the deal is off because he tried to pull a fraudulent transaction. Complain to JD upper management and take your business elsewhere. That dealer/salesman is not to be trusted. I don't think I would take the tractor now even if discounted just on principle. When you catch a con-man in the act of screwing you, do you still deal with him, NOT ME.

The more I think about it, the more I agree with opinions like Gary's above. Even if the dealer wasn't in on the original switch, when he received the tractor and dealer prepped it he definitely knew he had an old model tractor that had been used and sat outside. The dealer should have taken the initiative to discuss this with you, the buyer, and if you still wanted it, adjust the deal. Since he didn't do that, he's now just as guilty as whomever initiated the switch. I'd walk away or be paid handsomely to stay.

Called another dealer's parts dept and they confirmed the tractor was built in 2010.

Ouch is right. A 3 year old model.....should have came with atleast a 5k discount over whatever you agreed upon.

But I agree with others that at this point, I would be seeking another dealer, or even another brand, cause it they are this shady on a new tractor purchase, how are they going to be on repair work???
