so..what would a company charge to clean the DPF on our tractors? assuming we, the owners, take it off and bring it to them..?

For my medium duty trucks (class B) it costs me about 500-800$ to get the unit cleaned. That’s me taking the unit off and bringing it in. Fluctuation in cost is due to how much time it takes to get it clean. If it’s not bad and only takes one cycle then 500$ if it takes an additional cycle or some other thing then cost goes up.

Yea, I'm sure you are correct. I'm just not used to it. I'll get used to it as time goes by. Thanks

True. DPF isn't evil, it's literally filtering stuff that can kill you children耀lowly but surely. Eventually a way will be found to regain lost efficiency, same as what the petrol engine makers have already done.

I think we, as a nation, have perfected much more efficient ways of killing babies. I've yet to hear of anyone who has died of diesel soot inhalation.

How long do you think you could breath diesel soot without permanent effects? It's cumulative.
It won't ever say "inhaled too much rolling coal" on your death certificate. It will say "complications of emphysema, COPD, lung cancer, myocardial infarction, stroke ..." etc. It's proven that those living in areas of high pollution have shorter lives due to inhaling airborne pollutants; in fact, it's one of the biggest killers (smoking is worse-killed my parents-it's just localized and concentrated pollution).
So why make it worse? It violates the golden rule, to be sure. And in most cases, removing those pollution controls is simply illegal (when I was working as a mechanic we'd not touch a vehicle that had the emission controls removed, even out of warranty.)

And that baby comment is a non sequitur; take that cause to a forum that may appreciate it.

Diesel soot is carcinogenic. It's only relatively recently that they found out how bad it is. Being exposed to carcinogens raises your chances of getting cancer. When somone gets cancer it can be many years after exposure to a carcinogen, and there's no way to tie it back to the specific carcinogen. When my mother was dying of cancer the doctors said it was probably from years of heavy equipment operation. Just kidding, they thought it was smoking and drinking but there's no way to know for sure.

More immediately, I like how with the DPF I'm not gagging on fumes when I'm changing implements in the barn.

That's right. There is no way to know for sure.

Also, just because you can tolerate and not gag from different emission fumes in no way does it indicate they are not just as harmful to a persons health.

Thanks for saying that guys. I love my diesel, but also understand the need to keep them burning as clean as possible. Living on the east coast we are downwind so get all of the crap which everybody else spews into the air. One thing which really pi$$es me off is when some bozo in his "tuned" diesel pickup goes by me spewing such a cloud of black smoke that I practically need to pull over because I can't see.

I'm looking to get a JD 5075E and have been looking at the options for deleting the emissions on them. I'm not a hippie and just do not subscribe to the whole argument that running cleaner burning diesel motors on O/R equipment is going to do much to extend my or anyone else's lives. Sure if you just huff your exhaust or shut yourself in a building with a diesel running then maybe, but I don't recommend either.

One thing emissions don't prolong the life of is diesel motors. They become less reliable, less efficient in both fuel economy and power, and the maintenance cost goes up. Any motor wants to breathe but a high compression diesel really wants to breathe. Choking a diesel is kind of like getting fat to go run a marathon. It's very counterproductive. So is putting a hose in your butt and the other end in your mouth. Just because you injest a fart doesn't mean the next one's going to be any cleaner. That's pretty much what an EGR is doing for your motor. It's just putting a bunch of carbon and soot that's supposed to be going out your exhaust back into the nice, clean air entering your motor. Not very good for a diesel at all. Plus deleting these systems will likely get you very noticeable improvements in both fuel economy and power. Your tractor will likely run much nicer.

If you can find a good way for to delete these systems and you're not worried about your warranty then I say go for it. I don't think I've met anyone who's said that they regretted deleting their emissions on their trucks.

Agreed, I have a 6.7l powerstroke that lost weight. Been searching to do my new holland boomer 37 but have came out empty handed. I’m not sure how much you guys know about river boats, fuel barges etc have no Dpf filters and never will have any. These new diesel trucks actually burn pretty clean deleted compared to older diesel’s. For the past few years cummins turbo diesel engines have been replacing a lot of barge engines and they burn pretty clean as well
