Pay for work not done?

/ Pay for work not done? #41
I just heard from the Dealer in this case, I'm the original seller here in Texas. As Doc said earlier, I told him about the tractor issues upfront, and if one were to do a search on my username, they can find the issues listed on this very board.

I don't know what will happen with Doc, the Dealer and myself at this point, but I wanted everyone to know that I disclosed all the error codes to Doc up front and sold him a good tractor. I assumed, as did Doc, that the tractor would be fixed by the dealer here in Texas. After I dropped of the tractor and implements and recieved the funds from Doc I thought this transaction was over. I hope it gets resolved soon, I don't really need this stress. And I don't know why the dealer is contacting me. The repairs, estimates, payments and issues are between the Texas dealer and Doc.

I respect Doc tons and formed a friendship over this deal, but the dealer wants their $$ and I understand their position too. I'm in the middle now and I don't know why. My fear is the dealer will go after the easier target, I'm 10 miles away, Doc's hundreds of miles away.

If I ever get the opportunity to get another tractor I will use this board as the great resource its meant to be. I just wanted you guys to hear my side of the story so if we ever deal with each other you'll know I'm a straight shooter. Doc I sent you an email earlier, hopefully we can get a resolution PDQ.

Jason if you sold the tractor to the dealership, they shouldn't even be bothering you. Tell the dealer to go whistle Dixie!

It really amazes me that guys like this can stay in any business.

Jason, you are a good guy. No need to convince anyone if you are "straight shooter" as that was never in question or discussed. No one has even mentioned you in any posts. So relax, your reputation is safe!

To let everyone know, Jason was great to deal with. He disclosed everything about the tractor. If Jason had another tractor for sale, I would buy it from him without any hesitation.

Clarification. Jason simply dropped the tractor off at the Dealer. I bought the tractor from Jason and he was kind enough to take it to the dealer.
Hope this helps.

I have no idea why the dealer would be contacting Jason. Perhaps simply to talk Jason into talking to Doc. The dealer should have all of Docs info.

Jason I wouldn't return their calls OR I would probably go down to the dealer and talk to the OWNER. I understand you might not want to pi$$ them off to much since you are local. But it's their problem IMO.

Nothing yet. I spoke with the dealer a few weeks ago and made my position very clear. I am guessing that this saga will take another month to resolve. Just a guess.

The Dealer is just trying to put the squeeze on Jason. Jason is a very nice guy. Maybe they think he will somehow pay for work not done?

I told Jason the same thing, just ignore the dealer. Not his problem. Burden is entirely on me. Why they bug this guy with something that is not his concern at all is another annoying behavior on the part of the dealer.

If the dealer had only gone to this much trouble to fix the PS in the first place, then we would not be having this conversation!

Doc, do you feel you owe the dealerhsip anything? If so, would they take that as a compromise? Perhaps what they did had no value to you at all, if so forget my idea of compromise. I just know that sometimes a little bit of compromise can get an issue resolved.

By the way, what did it cost to actually fix the tractor correctly, assuming that has now been done. Did the dealer that has now fixed the tractor (if it has been done) save any money on repairs because of parts installed by the Texas dealer? You can see my angle, but it only makes sense if the Texas dealer actually did something of value, despite not being successful.

I told the dealer (twice) that when the final repairs are done, I would pay them the difference. So, if it takes 800 to get the PS working, I would pay them 466 (about). They did not like that at all. Is this what you mean by compromise?
