Pick-up Tires = $$$$$

I usually trade well before I need tires!I have purchased one set in the last 25 years or so for my wife's Subaru and traded it shortly afterword's. These new trucks with 18's,20's and 22's are going to be expensive.
You must not put many miles on a vehicle? OEM tires are not known for longevity.

I have almost the same truck, 07 2500 ccsb CTD, my tires were plus sized by the previous owner to 285-75-17, it had the Nitto terra grappler on it when I bought it and replaced them with the same. Very happy with the Nitto, also have them on my wife's LR3 for the winter and do well.

I have access to tire equipment so I do my own installation but u want to say it was still a bit over 800 for just the tires through a tire distributor.

Discounttiredirect.com is also a decent source, especially if you can get a sale.

My wife's Toyota came with Toyos on them, but not the good kind you get at Les Schwartz, they barely made it to 35k.
I took a chance and ordered a set of Nitto all season from Discount Tire. They are turning out to be outstanding in rain and snow, and at 20k, still look new.
Only negative is road noise, due to tread pattern.
Price was $740 IIRC

I've heard complaints from a few people on road noise with the Nitto's but all three sets I've had on my truck haven't been noisy, two sets were E load range from completely worn out to brand new and the other set is D load range from new to half worn so far.

All of mine are the earlier generation, they did an update a couple years ago and they are supposed to even quieter.

5500 miles on a 2013 Silverado,I have 13,000 on a 2014 Silverado that "may" go in the spring.I am quite aware it cost more to trade than purchase tires but I can afford to so why not.

How has the 2014 silverado been? Any issues with thr EPS or AFM?

i have the ability to mount tires myself. so i buy them online from wherever is cheapest. for balancing I have just done my first set with the beads we'll see how they work. otherwise i have a friend who is an independent mechanic who lets me use his balancer.

i am a big fan of discount tire direct and through the end of this week they are running a sale. also check their ebay store, sometimes the tires are cheaper ebay.

Discount tire gets my vote. I have had good luck with Hankook, Toyo, Falken, Goodyear, and Firestone.

The 2014 is a double cab,4wd,Z71 with the 5.3 V8.No problems at all,had a recall on an air-bag sensor.Truck gets as much as 22.9 mpg in the summer. If I trade it will be for the same truck,I may wait until they start coming with the 9 speed transmission.I am retired so don't put a lot of miles like I used to.My wife has 16,000 miles on her 2015 Equinox.

I can buy tires locally cheaper than Tire Rack.

I was going to get a set of Toyo AT2s for my SUV, which is what I have on my pickup. But after reading these posts I may look at the Cooper AT3

I do like those Toyos, quiet for the type of tread. When I got the SUV it came with General Grabbers on it but they are too much of a street tire for my taste. Are the Cooper AT3s quiet? The Cooper ATPs? I've learned not to trust what the mfgs say about noise.

I've another vote for Costco/Michelins for my truck and van and then Costco/Greenballs for my trailer. Just wait and buy on the markdowns. I've three nearby and they have been cheerful, helpful and timely. Long ago I used to spend a lot of time going through the decision process trying to find the best bang for the buck and decided it was easier to just settle on those combos.

My Wife's Ford Edge has 125,000 miles on it. It came with Pirelli Scorpions. I got 65,000 miles on them. I replaced them with Falken. They have been every bit as good for $650.

It's time to replace them and I got a quote at Costco. They want $1000 for Michelins. I will go back to the Falken.

I had Michilens on my Volvo and was not impressed. I blew 3 of the 4 sidewalls out in 30,000 miles. I replaced with Dunlap Tires and never had a issue.

I agree with WilliamBos, I've run BFG ATs on 4 different trucks for over 12 years and I wouldn't run anything else. They are a little more expensive but definitely worth it.

You know, I've heard others say this. Can I ask what you run them on? I have a 3/4 ton crew cab LWB diesel. Heavy, long, big. 90% highway use. Would you recommend these for my situation?

Many years ago, my brothers owned a BFG tire dealership/garage in Anchorage. I went up there and worked with them one summer (1992). And yep, I, too, had good luck with BFG tires. In fact, when I went up there, driving a one ton extended cab Chevy dually pulling a 32' fifth-wheel, I had a set of the BFG All Terrain T/A tires on that truck.

Now I expect to need new tires before too long on my current 2015 F150 crew cab Ford. But I really don't need the all terrain type tires and right now that's the only tire BFG has in my size 265/60R18.
