Sat in a BX2660 for the first time this weekend. The thing I like most in the seat is the ability to stand the seatback up more than the lesser BX tractors. The only time by back touches my seatback is when I lean back to talk to my wife or take a swig. Otherwise, I'm hunched over the wheel like a bus driver.

After sitting in it, I'd only pay the difference for the BX2660 if I was passionate about the metal fenders and hood. Noticed that the operating deck of the other BX tractors is metal now, so I'd be OK with the plastic elsewhere, probably. Certainly don't need the extra HP.

This is a tractor designed so Kubota can put "Best in Class" next to a bunch of check boxes.

Ya gotta say though, these things would all be on the list of things people would like to see on a BX-tractor right?! Back when we where having fender issues everyone here would have just died to get metal fenders. Its funny how when a real world price tag is put to some of these things, they become less important. Your right about the "best in class" thing, thats exactly what this is. Some people will jump on it.

Concur when the fenders AND operator platforms were all plastic. At the time I was purchasing, I had a (fully justified, it seems) fear that ALL PLASTIC just didn't cut the mustard. That was one of the main reasons I went with my BX2230 at the time (not that the other $2,000 off on the 'previous model' hurt...)

With the metal operator platform, I see benefit to plastic fenders and hood. It is more a matter of taste at that point.

But if I had convinced myself that the BX2350 was THE machine for me to purchase, there is a 90% chance I'd spring for the BX2660 for no reason other than figuring I've spend all this money already...may as well go whole hog...

Either way I am to be getting one of these in the next few days here in Michigan. I do have a chipper that will appreciate the extra PTO power. Other than that I was real satisfied with the BX2230 that I sold to my friend.

I also like the return to metal fenders and hood over the BX2350. The newer seat also looks like a plus.

Any more pictures or has somebuddy gotten a copy of the brochure and could scan and post?

Kind of funny quoting myself but saves on typing I guess. Appreciate the pictures and comments that have been made over the past couple of days. As I am currently sitting here without a tractor.

I am looking forward to getting this tractor and agree with many of the comments. I like the new features and can make use of the extra PTO power. But from the prospective of trading in a previous model to get additional the additional power I don't think that would be enough for me. My BX2230 was a nice machine with adequate power.

I sold it to a friend to opt for the BX2350 for the improvements that they made to that model on the overall package. in particular the Platform size & Pedal arrangement, Front loader & headlights, Rear 3point, Wider fenders, and who's kidding who, I kind of liked the looks.

Upon pick-up there were issues with the deck Top position and Noise from the hydraulic pump. But the thing that I wasn't too sure about the Plastic fenders and hood. I have a Gator and understand the good and bad about this construction-like when you mar or scratch them unintentionally they are still the same color and won't rust. But over time i know they won't clean up as nice as the BX2230 metal painted parts. My Gator still looks great from a distance but up close it shows some wear.

In short, ownership of the BX2350 got delayed by the above. By checking out the tractor forums I knew to insure the tractor had all upgrades for the fenders. And while talking with the Tech and mentioning my like for the tractor but i will miss my metal body parts. he told me about the BX2660 was comming out pretty soon. Got me thinking and asking questions.

Dealer was very good about it and I will be getting his first BX2660. If went the other way, and it had of been a few months later, where I had been using my BX2350, and stopped by the dealer to get the 50hr. maintience materials and saw a new BX2660, I don't think that there is enough there to make any changes to the model number of my tractor.

Now this still leaves me with a hole in my garage floor plan and many things not getting done for spring. To make this a little better I have printed off some of the pictures in this post (Thanks) and placed them in between the the front blade and the PTO chipper where the tractor would be. I have alaso placed a chair there. This is the closest thing I can get to anything resembling seat time. Really sad. Still kind of cool and the garage doors are all closed so I havent been caught yet. Now back to that brochure, Havent seen a brochure for this yet. Anybody got one that they can copy and share? That might help the time pass... Man, do I need a tractor!

In persuit of information and reading materials on the BX2660 on the internet i went to the main kubota website in Japan that linked me to all of the world wide websites. I still find the ones in English the most informative.

Kubota

I found that the US site barely makes a mention on the new products with no link to additional information. The Canadian site doesn't have the graphics or level of product information for each tractor that the US site but does but they do have the BX2660 section populated.

No where else around the world makes mention.

Other intresting things...The product mix, selection, and products themselves vary around the world. Canada I think is the same. Philipines don't show any tractors smaller than a B series. Australia has the same BX selection with out the BX2660 showing, but the clump them up with the compacts. The most interesting was England only offers the BX2350 with a very different ROPS system. No BX24 or BX1850. They will also still put the 48" mower deck on it in addition to the 54" & 60"

Flatlander, I don't know where you are from, but the BX2660's are showing up most everywhere around here. You shouldn't have to wait long since we are not usually the first area to get new models. I saw a few more new arrivals yesterday on a ride I took.

Michigan,

Some of the dealers are also just starting to get them but none close and I prefer to continue my relationship with the current dealer as he has been pretty good to me over the years.

As they roll these out they are allocated to spread them out. There is one with my name on it at the Ohio Warehouse. Just waiting for them to be able to make complete truck load. I am told it will be soon.

Was the operator's platform ever plastic? My BX24 is a fairly early one and it has a metal platform and plastic fenders.

The Platform has always been metal...............
I got the first one off the truck and it has a metal platform. Also, the problem was not the Plastic fenders, It was the lack of support under them. The fenders are fine if they have the proper support. I saw the thickness of the metal fenders and hood they are using and I can see a lot more in the way of dents. Let's not forget rust.

I can see the disadvantage of metal fenders in the north country. I had a Subaru in Vermont. The salt ate totally through the fenders, actually, ate the fenders up completely. The car was the same color as duct tape. I took a roll of duct tape and simply rebuilt the fenders out of duct tape over some galvy wire framing I shaped up.   Plastic would definitely have made for good fenders on that Subaru in those Green Mountains.

Thank goodness I don't live with snow and salt any more. Now I can enjoy my Kubota metal fenders and not worry about searching everywhere for orange duct tape. :D :D :D
