The cut is rated at 3-5 inches, per minute, with fresh consumables and clean, dry air. 1/16" standoff height. (edge cut). As far as maximum cut the tech specs say 7/8"max severance. The blurbage up top does mention 1" on our site, but probably a mistake on my part when I was setting the page up with the information and typing it based off of memory (faulty). I will make sure it gets changed tonight. There are basically 3 cut capacities we typically refer too. Maximum severance cut (7/8") which is the maximum reasonable cut you can expect and it still come apart if you are patient enough. There will be dross and it will not be a pretty cut compared to lesser thickness cuts. Maximum clean cut capacity. This is where the unit will cut at a slower speed, but still yield a decent cut with less dross and clean separation of the metal. Then you have the average daily cut capacity. In short, this is the maximum thickness you want to cut on a regular, daily basis for reasonable speed hand cutting.
