Hey guys, I'm looking at a plow that is old, but seems to be in decent shape. Old John Deere. The points on the plow are very warn. is this something i can replace or improve in a reasonable way? Does it matter in the first place? didn't know if it could weld a piece of steel on there, or, just grind the points back sharp again.
I only need this to be usable, I do not need it to be optimized for production purposes. Just doing food plots and small scale ag stuff. Thanks again, pic attached.

A couple of questions or concerns from looking at the pictures.

Is the point or plow share worn back so much that it has also worn the brackets that it mounts on?

What do the land slides look like? These run against the side of the furrow. I don稚 see one on the front bottom but that may be due to the angle the picture was taken from.

If John Deere I would suspect parts are available but not sure on cost of these parts

First, JD plows are probably the hardest pulling plows ever made...Second, THEY would have to replace those points prior to any purchase (worn points/shares may make it useless anyway..) Third...buy that Ford/Dearborn plow next to the JD... its looks like the one they called the "Economy" Plow....we had one for the Ford 8n we had...good plow. You can still get shares for it most anywhere. BobGinVA
