With all that's known about the health affects and with them picking up most of our health care insurance costs, I guess they have a point.

There was a billboard that was running locally which had a bundle of cigarettes tied up like a stereotypical bundle of dynamite with a fuse going into the bundle. The caption read "With all we know about smoking, why would you start?"

why do folks start smoking?

Probably as many answers to that as there are to "why do folks buy tractors?":D In my own case, I was nearly 19 when I got up every morning at 5:30 a.m., opened a service station/auto parts store/Greyhound & Continental Trailways bus station at 6:30 a.m., left between 7 & 7:30 a.m. to drive 40 miles to college, immediately after classes, drove that 40 miles back to the job, worked until 6 p.m. one day and 9 p.m. the next (Dad & I alternated), so any dating or social life was after that. I got awfully sleepy driving that 40 miles back and forth and decided that maybe smoking would give me something to do to keep awake. So I bought a pipe and I smoked a pipe for 5 years before I started smoking cigarettes.

I quit smoking over 4 years ago and my wife quit over 3 years ago, but we do still have a few restaurants with both smoking and non-smoking sections and when asked which we want, we tell them we don't care; we won't be smoking, but don't mind others' smoking near us.

And yes, I'm among those who believe the choice should be entirely up to the owner of the property.

You must be mistaken, that's not the way our current administration quotes the Constitution.....

Yes, they actually do. Quoted just like every other administration has done since the beginning.

. . .So Sunday morning, I was going back to that store for other things and I took that receipt with me to request a refund. Now in Texas, they cannot sell alcoholic beverages before noon on Sunday, and the cashier in Customer Service found he could not ring up a refund on alcoholic beverages either; told me I'd have to come back after noon. It wasn't worth it for $1.50.

Hey Bird! I've seen that stuff you drink. $1.50 was a whole 'nother bottle of that stuff, wasn't it?:laughing::laughing:

I went into Wlamart the other day for a box of shotgun shells. The older gent in front of me bought a box of .410 shells. He was obviously in his 70's so when the clerk asked for his ID I turned & walked away. I have no doubt that will be a federal mandate someday; until that time I'll patronise vendors who view the right to bear arms as more than just another opportunity to line their pockets

The only time WM has carded me is if I buy my .223's in Calais Maine. They have to make sure I'm not Canadian, it's only 1 mile from the border.

I've not bought any shotgun shells, but I've bought both 9mm and .38 ammo from different Walmarts in the area and have never been asked for ID.

i have not been carded for ammo much recently, one i think last year maybe and a few years before this. All at wal mart and various calibers from pistol maybe?? dont remember to shotgun to highpowered rifle.

Im only 28??? Clearly im over 18 but not by as much as some of you and im only looking at avatars and such and i can clearly see that i dont need your id for anything that id could sell to you.

Yes before you had a choice you could go to smoking or non smoking section now the whole restaurant is non smoking so what happened to my choice?

Honestly.. really?

No one is stopping you from smoking in your car. Unless you think its wrong that there are laws that stop you smoking in your car with children present?

Honest.. really?
