Polaris Ranger Crew Reliability Question - What UTV to Buy????

I have a 570-4 and love it. I use it mostly for maintaining my fence line and getting around my property. The bed could be bigger I agree but it does fit my generator and welder in the bed for when I am building fences or corrals. I have no complaints with it and have left it stock, I am thinking about adding a 2in lift because it does sit low when I have myself and 3 friends in it plus equipment.

I've got a 2011 Polaris Diesel Ranger and i'm totally honked off at Polaris for selling me a ranger with a battery that only lasted 8 yrs.
That's it.
That's the only replacement part I've installed in 8 yrs of hard, and I mean HARD, farm work.
Anyway, I wouldn't be wary of Polaris products.
Just keep up your maintenace and they'll reward you with years of service.

All of the manufacturers you mentioned make good equipment and; Yeah, ok, they might make a dinger here and there.
You'll find many Deere and Bota haters amongst their owners, as well.
For what you have intended for it's use...Go for the least expensive ranger and enjoy your trails.
Leave the mountainside trails and mud bogs for the rich & foolish.

Didn't get the Mule Pro, felt the machine was to beat up. Going to look at the Kubota X1140 again and also the Can-Am Defender Max.

Getting a X1140 to demo on my property next week. Was able to try a Gator S4 last week, not what I want. Drove a Can-Am Defender Max. HD8, nice quite machine.

had a 2016 ranger 900xp. I used it mostly in winter with tracks for grooming, but some trail work as well. I liked it...but it wasn't for me and I always felt there was work I needed to do to IT, not the work I wanted to do. I did modify mine heavily, and I think I over-did it and soured my opinion on them. My ATV has been much better for my needs and is a Polaris also.

The battery is worthless. Absolute trash and if it isn't on a tender the thing will die within two days. This has been well documented on prcforum.com . Maybe this has been fixed, but lots of threads about battery issues.

If I were to get a UTV again, I'd get a straight worker, like the Kubota, FIL has one and loves it. Even the polaris Brutus, but I don't think I'd ever buy a Ranger again. I also wouldn't get a 540, but based on your history of use it would probably be enough for you and your needs.

IF you do get a Polaris, join that forum, and go find Greg (Toxic-21) The man is a literal Polaris Genius and will diagnose, help fix or find the part number to literally anything on your rig. That forum has some guys who know what is what.

Thanks bridge4 for the information. Funny you mentioined problems with the battery on yours - my Dad has a Polaris ATV and he has to keep it on a battery tender also. What I don't understand is the unbelievable prices of these machines - WOW

I sold an 800XP and 570RZR.

The 570 will be a dog in a Ranger.

You will be better served by a used pickup truck and it will be less expensive and more reliable.

If you think about it, they are jeeps with no safety equipment, but even more off road capability. It's an impressive thing, but hard to swallow I agree.

I’ve got a 2016 Ranger 570-6. Haven’t ran out of power yet. I’ve had somethings I didn’t have enough traction to pull but not power.

It’s got over 600 hours and 2400 miles on it. Only thing I’ve done is change front u-joints. Besides maintenance. Still has original battery. Keep a synthetic oil in it. I don’t trail ride mine. It’s all farm work.

Main complaint is ground clearance. A lot of that complaint is because of length. High centers quickly. Next would be bed space. But then can you ever have a big enough bed. I carry a 30 gallon sprayer tank all summer so that’s half the bed. If your going to haul with it. Set your rear springs as stiff as possible and front in mid range. Get the glass windshield and forget about the poly one.
