We had some weird weather this weekend in upstate NY. It was 93 on Saturday and we had 5 hours of rain today. I actually did get some work done over the weekend. I installed the windows that I purchased from Bargin outlet and finished framing the garage doors and I added supports on each of the post. I also finished the sofit and most of the facia on one side of the building and started to install the metal as you will see in the pictures.

I did have an interesting experience today. I set the first sheet of sheathing before the rain started, so I decided to start the trim around the garage door. I started setting the top section and was trying to line it up and all of a sudden I see a blue flash and wham I get a jolt of electricity right though my thumb. Dang lighting must have hit the building and because my thumb was not touching the metal it arched. I had both hands on the steel except for my thumb which was about and inch away from the metal. At that point it was time to stop working on the building until the rain let up since T-storms started rolling in. It felt just like getting zapped from a 110 outlet but twice as strong! I have been zapped by 110 many times but this one was a bit stronger! Thumb was a little numb for about an hour but all is well now.

Enjoy the pictures!

Finished the two outside walls so far. Next task is to install the sofit on the west side wall and then off to the gable ends! Hoping to start on the gable ends on the first weekend of August as today I have a party to go to and next weekend is a family reunion so I will not have time to work on the barn except for after work but kids have a lot of activities that they need to be brought to during the week so I am not sure how much I can get done. Anyway here are some pictures to show folks my progress.

I have not posted updated pictures in a while becasue I have not had a lot of time in the last 3 weeks to work on the barn. Here are the latest pics of the project and I am hoping to finish up the outside on labor day weekend. Enjoy!

More updates!

Garage doors installed and electrical started. Outside Mercury vapor light and 3 sensor lights under the over hangs installed along with 8 fluorescent work shop lights inside the building. Next task is to get the outside and inside outlets installed along with a light next to the entrance door. I am hoping to get my fill for around the building this week so I can start grading around the building and prepare the ground for the concrete floor.

Looks great. It is always so nice when it gets "in the dry." Then things can go at a less pressured pace. I have roof and windows on my barn but need to takel the outside and floor also...if we only didn;t have to work to pay for all this....hmmm

jdmar, thanks for the compliment and yes, only if we did not have to work to pay for this I would have been done many weeks ago :)

I finally finished the pole barn!!!! A bunch of freinds came over yesterday morning and helped me pour the floor. The floor is ~ 4 1/2" thick and I put a 8" deep swipe between 12' to 17' in from the front garage doors so that I can install a 2 post car lift some year :).

Anyway, today I am going to head over to Home Depot and rent a floor cutter so I can control the cracking of the floor, hopefuly!! I am also planing on spraying a top coat on the floor after I cut it so it slows the cure down.

Here are some pictures of the pour yesterday and the finish this morning. Floor is still green as it was a cold damp day yesterday and last night.

Enjoy!

streamin,

Thanks and no plans this year to insulate. I can say that what ever the temp is outside it is the same temp in the pole building!!!!

I built a loft in the back corner over the 8' garage door yesterday and I spent most of today filling up the pole barn and clearing out the house garage!
