Power Trac Visit

Did anyone try the mini-hoe on the pt 425, if so is it capable of doing anyplace near what the one john purchased can do being the machine is much lighter?

We actually tested the Power Trac mini hoe with a PT1430, which is between the 400 series and the 1800 series in size. Hans recently got the Lackender hoe for his 425, and was quickly able to dig what sounds like a huge hole to clear out some roots. Certainly the weight of the machine is a factor, but much of the digging is done by bucket curl. The 400 series have almost the hydraulic pressure of the bigger machines, and Hans reports that he digs well. He has about the same size bucket as the PT mini hoe, but longer and heavier dipper boom. We didn't test it at Tazewell, but I have no doubt the hoe will work well on the 422 and 425.

pt tried to have a backhoe ready for the guys with the big money ..hihhihiihi.. since they knew that i already had one bought from lackender.

lackender's has a thumb available, is a little more clumsy, the plate (where the pt quick attach plate is welded to) is too big and needs to be trimmed. the overall movements are slower in the curling action ... i think that the lackender has more power in the curling action, can reach further and deeper and touch it's own front.

pt backhoe is a few dollars less expensive, more responsive, faster at curling, has no thumb attachment available at this time, more limited range to pull the bucket to itself (within about two feet) and can not quite reach as far and deep as the lackender.

Both machines can reach deeper by digging a ramp as discussed earlier so don't go out and buy a single purpose machine just to have a longer boom.
