Re: PowerTrac Hook-em Up

Power Trac sells a quick attach plate with a 2" receiver, for use as an airplane tug, pushing trailers and implements around a yard, etc. We decided to weld up our own, to save some money, play with the welder, and add a few hooks and shackles to connect miscellaneous stuff.

Re: PowerTrac Hook-em Up

If we can't hitch to it with the Power Trac quick attach or the hitch in the picture, we don't want to be associated with it.

Re: PowerTrac Hook-em Up

Man Charlie, you got the good stuff! That looks great. The 4-in-1 bucket really looks beefy.

Charlie...

Now that is one mean looking bucket... if I was dirt or anything... I would certainly snap to attention with that coming at me... /w3tcompact/icons/grin.gif

Re: PowerTrac Hook-em Up

The 4 n 1 with toothbar weighed in at 505 lb. shipping weight. I suspect the useful lift remaining is about 850 lb. It seems to have no trouble picking up a full bucket of dry dirt.
I have the lightweight Power Trac 18 cu ft bucket, so I decided to go heavy on the 4 n 1 for digging. When it arrived, it scared me with how heavy it seemed, but the machine doesnt seem to notice. I have to do a lot of learning how to use it, but so far I like what it does.

Re: PowerTrac Hook-em Up

Charlie, can you show in a picture how you attached the hitch to the plate? From the one picture it appears you have some type of pin set or is the hitch welded to the plate?

Re: PowerTrac Hook-em Up

Charlie,
Really like what you have done with the attachments. I assume they would not work with the PT425 but only the larger PT tractors. Looking at the backhoe attachment the height would be problem and the 4 in 1 the weight.

Re: PowerTrac 1845 4 n 1

John:
It is a mean looking bucket. I bought it sight unseen, based on recommendations on the board from Mark Chalkley, pictures on Steve Carver's website, etc. The whole thing is stronger and heavier than I need, and the toothbar really sets it off. As soon as she saw that and the Lackender digger, my wife made sure I was aware of all the places I'm not allowed to dig. I think she pictures her horses disappearing in randomly spaced moon craters.

Re: PowerTrac Hook-em Up

Yeah, as discussed earlier, I think you'd tip the tractor on its nose before the hydraulics give out. At least that's what mine tried to do with the fork lift test.
