PowerTrac - Made in America

   / PowerTrac - Made in America #21
Not to be nit picky, and not that I care at all, but there is one point to be made about PowerTrac being made in America.

Yes, it is all assembled in America, but I don't think that the engine is.

This is a point made frequently in motorcycle circles that some guys really have a hang up on. I am waiting on a motorcycle that I ordered from Flyrite. These motorcycles are assembled in Texas. On a chopper site that I frequent, Flyrite has been frequently criticized because the RevTech engine is actually made in Korea.

But hey, I love my PowerTrac, and I'm sure that I'll love my Flyrite! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Fourteen,
That PDF file also contained a good manufacturers view of will-fit filters

To be fair, the Robin engines and the Deutz engines that are offered in the other models are probably not made in America. Some of the other parts probably aren't, either. But all in all, Power Trac is an American owned, American operated company that makes great products with American labor in America(thats 5X America for those of you keeping score). However, what drove me to buy the Power Trac was the machine itself. Great concept. Saves me labor and saves me money. That it was made in the good old USA is just icing on the cake. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I want my PT-425 to have only the best! Therefore, my favorite oil filter is the Amsoil SDF57.

They may cost a little more, but they seem to be of exceptional quality. I do a lot of bargain hunting, but there are times when it appears to be justified to spend some of those savings on something worthwhile, even if it isn't the cheapest!! My goal is high value, and cheap crap is still crap!!

PS: Amsoil oil filters are made in USA! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Thought I would bring this thread back up as we have a number of new PowerTrac owners that may like to give their suggestions to having Made In America show do one on PowerTrac. If interested go to the first part of the thread which will give you directions.

Thanks Paul:

I just posted...

BTW: There is very little of anything that is "made in america" in it's entirety now a days. Even Harley Davidson puts some overseas components in their cycles. Does this bother me, no, because the company is an American owned company employing local residents to produce a quality product.

I have no problem at all in having a Robin engine installed in my PT. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Who cares if its made in America or not?

I believe Deutz now has a factory in Georgia but I don't know if the PT engine is made there because PT does not tell what Deutz model they use.

And anyway, the subject of the post is the Travel Channel Made in America program with John Ratzenberger, not the Travel Channel Made in A Foreign Country program with John Ratzenberger. If it was, I'd nominate my Toyota from Japan, my Chevy Impala from Canada and my candy from Europe.

Look, we all know that the days of completely American mass produced items are nearing an end. With a global economy and economics of supply and demand, we are going to have to live with the fact that pieces and parts and even completely assembled items are going to come from all over the world. That is never going to change. When we find a nice product that is made right here in our own country, we like to celebrate it. It's like cheering for the home team. Don't boo the opponent. That's bad sportsmanship. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Amen Mr. M.R.! If you look at my early posts on this forum i too was of the opinion one should mostly buy american. But in my yard I had at that time already two Kubota machines.

It almost slipped my mind but come to think of it my wife is an import. First rate all the way. No way I would ever trade her for a different model, "made in America' or not.

"" I had at that time already two Kubota machines ""

There is nothing wrong with that!! If what you really want or need is only made in Elsewhere, go for it!! It is your money to spend as you see fit! But, if you have the choice, buy American!!
