Same motor and transmission. Not a speed demon but it gets the job done, for long distances it would be tiresome. It does 60mph unloaded on the highway, and 40-50mph is as fast as I go with a load. It was purchased new for mostly on-farm use which is probably why they went with the heavy axles and such but the smallest motor combo. Ours also has the 2spd rear, 8.85 lo, 6.65 hi ratio.

Sounds like the same rig, just a few years newer. Pretty good old truck and simple to work on.

60mph! I wish. The fastest I have gotten mine is 53.5mph and that is downhill with a tailwind!

That C60 with a 350 2 barrel my neighbor has would not hit 60mph if you pushed it off the roof of a 60 story building.:D

Mr. Fuller if your driving the old highway toward Peach Springs. Doing 50mph. is flying. The chuck holes were large enough to lose a Volkswagon in.
Isn't there a gravel pit toward Ashfork close to where the old high way and new interstatre comes together. Used to be called the Pistascho rock quarry.

Rte 66 to Peach Springs is nicely paved now. I don't recall seeing a single pothole. There must be at least 20 -30 big rigs a day, 7 days a week, going into the Lhoist limestone quarry picking up limestone for cement factories.

Ken,

I don't know about it, but I'll check it out next time. I go through Ashfork everytime I go up to the property. I do know there is a huge flagstone yard, with tons and tons of flagstone.

Ken,

Anything in particular you want to see a picture of? To see how it has changed? I'll try to take it on one of our trips and then post it on the AZ Ranch thread. Thanks on the inside scoop on how things used to be.

You guys have me curious. Whats flagstone? And why is it so popular?

Big flat pieces of rock that people use for walks and patios. I guess Northern AZ is one of the main sources.

My IH tops out at about 55mph/ 3400 prm. If I didn't have a tach I would swear that motor was turning speeds a NASCAR engine sees because it's screaming so loud.
