I'm confident you will be way more satisfied with the cut quality now. Can't wait to hear your results. I try to check the height on my deck once or twice a year. It makes a world of difference.

Having adjusted the side-to-side of the MMM , what's the difference
in the bolt adjustment lengths of the deck-hangers , each side ?

On the rear bolts themselves, I'd say that the left and right bolts are in about the same position. I'll check it later to be sure

Way to thick for a "finish mower"
3" is spot on for grass to keep it cool and hydrated. If you cut it to short you risk putting strain on the root with the sun/heat causing it to "burn"

Here is my lawn set at 3" with the fine cut deck (54") and the BX24.

Had a break in the rain for a couple hours today, so i mowed half the lawn.

My impressions, that while improved, there is still a long way to go. If before quality was a 3 than I'd say it is about a 7 now.

I am however giving it the benefit of the doubt as I had the loader on, grass was very wet and the grass was overgrown at about 8". Cut height was 3.5".

When the weather improves I'll try again. The grass will be shorter and hopefully drier.

Again this deck SHOULD mow very well as it is the same as on the some of the ZD commercial zero turns.

I dont know why I cant get it figured. It's improved but still not where I want it to be. I've mowed this exact same grass with my old Deere x540 and had a phenomenal cut. Nice and level. So I know its not my turf.

I'll wait till the weather is nice, but I think I'll need a change of blades. I might even put the original (non-mulch) Kubota blades back on. Ive read where the Kubota mulch blades are better than the factory straight blades, but im starting to wonder. Personally I dont think that either the straight nor the mulch blades generate enough lift. My old Deere would literally suck the dust off the driveway as I mowed the edge of the lawn... The Kubota's dont generate near that level of lift.

IC, Nice stripes!!. That's the cut I want... It's also the level of cut I got with my old machine.

The loader adds a lot of weight on those front tires when mowing. Drier grass and loosing the loader should help improve it some more.

Correct! I usually dont mow with the loader on. I intended on doing a quick pass down the middle to satisfy my curiosity and got caught in the moment:laughing:

Since it was dry today, I re-mowed the areas from yesterday when I got home. I also dropped the deck down to 3"

Cut was improved that much again... I'd say its a solid 8 now. Still going to get the Gators though. Had some issues trying to figure out which model will fit my deck. Although there are threads here on the Gators, they are all over the place with regards to which model fits the deck. Some say the P decks have a 3/4 centre hole and some say they have a 7/8.....

So, I measured up the centre holes of my old blades to confirm what size I needed. Centre hole on my old standard blades is 0.71". Crossing that to the Gators means I need a model 396-748 blade I believe.

FYI if any one is interested there are no factory high lift blades available for the 54P deck. I called 2 dealers. There is only Standard and Mulch.

I should add that the cut grass output is VERY fine, almost like mulch. I dont know if this is due to the P deck or the mulch blades, but it is amazing especially considering the grass is way over height. The cut pieces are even smaller now that the mulch kit is removed then they were before. The deck blows them out nice with no clumps. Very impressed. For anyone considering the mulch kit...SAVE YOUR MONEY!!! It's not needed.

It does look a lot better. I would imagine gators will help provide the needed lift to get your cut quality to a solid 9 or better. I'm glad things are working better for you. Sadly I gave up on my 54 fine cut and upgraded to a 60. I noticed very fine clippings with the 54 but it just wouldn't pick up the grass. You might try adjusting the RPMs. I noticed the cut quality was almost better at less than full throttle with the 54. Anyhow good luck and I look forward to seeing some pictures with the gators on. They should help quite a bit. They make a big difference on my 60.
