There definitely was a difference between normal diesel and home heating oil. My Kubota smoked continuously when it burned the heating oil. The normal diesel is back in it and the smoke is gone.
Home Heating Fuel= usually does not have the added lubricty additives etc. Dyed RED, but is taxed. TAX is because of use. NOT road tax, but your usual tax.
Are you talking about sales tax? Oregon doesn't have one, and home heating oil is certainly not taxed.
Yeah, if someone wants to run #6 heating oil in their generator, they better be running a Lister diesel engine. A Lister will burn anything. It's interesting to note that heavier oils will also give more power in modern diesel engines, but it makes them hard to start and may result in higher head temperatures.
